thereuare Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages. In theory, all hotels should be clean, but in reality this is not always the case, and what is clean and acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another user. Therefore, you need to select a star rating that you feel will give you the level of comfort and service that will meet your needs/expectations. The other option is to use HOTWIRE where you can take a guess as to the hotel before your purchase, and can then go research what you believe the likely outcomes are, and determine if these would meet your needs (for most hotels HOTWIRE also gives a user satisfaction percentage and a breakdown of how the rate certain aspects of the hotel, one of these criteria is 'room cleanliness'). The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.With the above noted, April is an expensive time of year in NYC (from a seasonal point of view it's one of the "high seasons") and $150 all-in, which is about $125 bid price, is not likely going to be enough for a 4* hotel. Based upon current rates you're probably looking closer to the ~$200 bid price (before fees and taxes) for a centrally located 4* hotel.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. solodl Posted February 8, 2012 Author Report Posted February 8, 2012 THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY BUT WONDERING IF YOU KNOW.......WHICH HOTELS IN NYC WILL ACCEPT MY BID FOR 3 PEOPLE? MY SISTER LIVES IN LONGISLAND SO SHE MAY STAY WITH US WHILE WE ARE IN THE CITY. WILL BIDDING FOR A ROOM WITH THREE PEOPLE LIMIT MY CHOICES IN HOTELS? WILL IT ALSO EFFECT THE PRICE THAT IS ACCEPTED ?????
thereuare Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Please don't type in ALL CAPS as it makes your post harder to read.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. This is especially difficult in NYC where the majority of rooms in most hotels only have one bed and rooms with two beds is often considered an upgraded. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click each of the previous links before replying.Thanks.
