Priceline Hotel: Bidding strategy and help need for NYC booking March 10-13

First time bidder looking to arrange accommodation for a 3.5-4.5* hotel in NYC from the 10th to the 13th of March 2012

My girlfriend and I are looking to stay in central Manhattan, midtown, empire state etc. We are from the UK and looking at a budget of 140max for each night

Can anyone provide any advice? Looking to avoid downtown and stay central.
