kchhang Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 I plan to travel to Hong Kong early April and return late May. I have been checking for air price for weeks already. The lowest quote is $1200 (incl fee and tax). I want to bid on priceline but I don't know where to begin. The highest price I am will to accept is $800. Is that reasonable? Thank You.
thereuare Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Airfare bidding can be very 'hit or miss' and HUGE deals on airfare are much harder to come by then the deals we typically see on hotels. However, if you use the techniques in this Airfare Re-Bidding thread you can start lower ($600??) and work your way up to your $800 maximum.Any questions feel free to ask. kchhang Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 I just made a $600 bit but it was not success, instead PL gave me a quote of $955. I resubmit another bid with different date and $610 and again PL responds with a quote of $955. My question is should I gave up or keep on trying. Thank you
thereuare Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Based upon the above you know the 'right' price is between $610-$955... but you don't know if it will take $5 more than $610 or the full $955. If $800 is still your maximum bid and makes this deal worthwhile, why not continue bidding up to your maximum bid price? Also, as rates can differ from one departure/arrival date to the next, it may be a little safer starting with different cities (and then only selecting the airport(s) you want) as opposed to changing the dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
