bydong Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Hello!I'm a first time poster to this forum, and I was hoping to get some help with Hotwire (or Priceline) for a two-night stay over President's Day Weekend (2/19-2/21). I would like to get the best bang for my buck, and I'm most interested in a hotel in the 3.5-4.5 star range. Ideally, I'd like to spend less than $100 per night and would like a hotel located in a central location or something located near many sights. Earlier this week, I was on Hotwire and saw some 4 star hotels in the 'Central Park Area' for as low as $85. As the week passed, these prices shot up by $20-30. Are postings cheaper earlier in the week? Is there an ideal time for cheaper postings? Thanks.

AaronJB Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Is this for the same days as this previous Priceline NYC thread? Additionally, please confirm that *both* of the listings below are 3.5*.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bydong Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Posted January 30, 2012 Both of these hotels are 3.5* and they are both for the same one-night stay (2/20-2/21).Thanks.
thereuare Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Your Priceline NYC thread is for 2/19-2/21, so the hotels for your post above are a subset of these dates... have you made other plans for 2/19, shorted the trip and no longer need a hotel room for that nite, or considering SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID at this point time? Also, from your previous thread:Please start by reading your messages and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links... then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at your stay above.2x Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bydong Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Posted January 30, 2012 I'm considering shortening my trip depending on prices, so these were rates quote for just the one night stay. But I also found a 2 night stay (2/19-2/21) in the Chelsea Madison Square Garden area for $89, reduced from $180. Any thoughts what this hotel might be?It's a 3.5* hotel with the following amenities:Boutique Hotel Property offers a distinctive, unique or eclectic atmosphere. Many boutique hotels are smaller, hip properties in an urban setting, or renovated hotels with historical flair.Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free.Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. It is recommended by 90% of hotwire users. Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same trip in the same thread, and also only post the amenity names (and not the descriptions) as you can see how much easier the following is to read vs. what you've posted above and this helps minimize the chances that we miss an amenity when researching your stay:It's a 3.5* hotel with the following amenities:Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet AccessThis property has not yet been reported to the board, but my guess would be the Eventi. With a 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating, i wouldn't be too concerned about quality with this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
