THE TRIP RUNDOWN:

Sorry if I sound Undecided. I sound that way because I am wide open to any recommendations that others may have.

My family of 2 adults and 2 children will be traveling to Disneyland Saturday Feb4th - Tuesday Feb 7th.

We will be arriving mid day Saturday... First day and half will likely be beach bum days, or small hikes somewhere.

Monday and Tuesday we will be in Disneyland.

I like the idea of winning the Ayres hotel because of the breakfast and ratings. Previous trips to Disney we have often stayed closer to the park and I like the idea of staying someplace new, like the suburbs or even on the beach and then driving in or shuttling into Disney.

MY QUESTIONS:

1) Realizing there is no sure bet on getting a particular hotel, what would your bidding strategy be in hopes to get the Ayres Anaheim for a good rate.

2) Have you won a BB/Priceline hotel bid within 30 minutes driving distance that you would SWEAR by as being a great stay... Budget is < $350 for three nights.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment...

In both items above you're trying to pick the hotel and then figure out how to get it on PRICELINE. Either commit to receiving a good deal/value for any any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose OR use HOTWIRE where you have a little more control (but no guarantees) of trying to target a specific property.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I also think my first post was too vague.

Lets just go with bidding strategy for ideal 4.0* hotel, near disney. (within shuttle range)

with 3.5* fall back option.

From the looks of the listed hotels, I would be happy with any of the 3.5-4* in Anaheim or Garden.

The initally thought of Ayres was Anaheim anyway and I'm not sure that either Priceline or Hotwire has that location. Ooops

I appreciate any feedback or help. We are low key travelers that aren't easily disappointed, just saving money will excite us.

Because I have an expiring discount on PL today I'll probably click the PRICELINE link from this site in 30-35 minutes to begin the bidding. If anyone happens to have time to reply, Sweet, if not I have had success 2-3 times with the help of this site and don't feel completely lost. TIA

(within shuttle range)

I don't know the shuttle service radius in this area, but the hotel you receive can be anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone(s) you select. Pleas check the zone boundaries to confirm that this will meet your needs.

From the looks of the listed hotels, I would be happy with any of the 3.5-4* in Anaheim or Garden.

There are two 'main' zones that i believe you're looking at:

Disneyland - Anaheim North

Disneyland - Anaheim South - Orange - Garden Grove

... please confirm, are both of these acceptable or just one?

Did you want to start with a 4* hotel up to a $100 bid (which would bring you to just about $350 all-in??)

Please confirm the above and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Thanks for advice, and I'll add clarification.

The two zones you mentioned would be most appropriate for our stay.

I would be ok ALL in on a 4* total of $275-$325 Or a 3.5* in the 225-250 neighborhood.

In general does the Orange district sell for less than the Anaheim.

Just attempted to win 3.5 in only Anaheim with bids as follows.

Anaheim $43 + $5 = $48

Newport $47 + $5 = $53

Laguna H.$49 +$5 = $58

Laguna B. $55 + $5 =$60

Dana Point $61 +$5 =$65

Anaheim H. $63 =$68

No luck on those attempts. I'm willing to stay in Orange, but didn't select it early in the bid process and worried later on that perhaps I was on the high end of Orange and still on the Low side of Anaheim.

The information (maximum budget, zones you're willing to accept, star rating you want to try for first, etc)

Please take 5 minutes to think about the following:

1) what are all acceptable zones for this stay that you want to try for in your first round of bidding?

2) what star rating do you want to try for first

3) what is your maximum bid amount for this star rating

Let us know the above and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.
