Priceline Hotel: NYC Times Square - Theater District

Looking for hotel in NYC Times Square Theater District, going specifically to see a Broadway Show. I used the link to PRICELINE, bid $80 for what I thought was just 4-star. Was going to add 5-star for rebid. Perhaps I need to reread how that works. $80 wasn't accepted and it showed both 4 and 5 star checked. I wasn't willing to go 3.5 as I'd really rather not bid higher for 3.5 and one of the hotel listed didn't get good reviews/pics. I'll try again in 24 hours. Any suggestions? $125 would be as high as I'd like to go, I thought I saw more winning bids for the are listed on the forum here a few weeks ago but not seeing the posts now. Also, taking my college age niece and her friend, if need I'm sure we could share a king, but what have others experience been getting 2 double in NYC via Priceline (I know the state double occ, only, no bed type guat'd).

Thanks in advance. I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE link to rebid!

Please read this thread, which details the steps of re-bidding: re-bidding - and please let us know if you have any questions.

PRICELINE only guarantees one bed/double occupancy; while one can request two beds with the hotel, needing two beds and using the service in NYC is a definite risk - rooms are small and rooms with two beds often go for a premium. Hotels definitely may be unwilling or unable to offer a room with two beds, or may charge more.

The Calendar of Wins under the tools section towards the top of the board offers a listing of wins; Times Square is often the most expensive zone in NYC; unfortunately, rates in TS and elsewhere do look a little higher than normal for the season - while worth trying, $125 for a 4* may prove unlikely for these dates, especially in TS. Are there other zones of interest?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thank you both. If I bid much higher I would just pay the extra and book the $199 rooms I have found, at least then I would know I'd have 2 beds. Not interested in other zones, as I want to be in walking distant. Will try and again will to just pay a non-bid price for the peace of mind.

Edited to add: Ok then I would say yes I believe Midtown West...close to Rockerfeller? I need to check. I have my eye on the Hilton there if I pay non-bid. Seeing Wicked at the Gershwin, so I need to double check on that location.

Even if you only want to bid TS (and MTW??) you should still read/understand Priceline Re-Bidding Explained as it will enable you to bid a few times in one bidding session (and still only receive the zones you really want)... did you understand the information in that thread and identify the SEVEN re-bid zones you have when bidding the 4* level?

If you do decide to book direct please use the links in our Support Page where we have hotel direct links to most of the major hotel chains and online booking agencies (including Hilton)

Let us know if you'd like further information re-bidding and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board... we'll take it from there.

Thank you all again, after much research of hotels..checking room types, etc. I opted to not take the risk of bidding. I did expand my possible area, focused more on being close to Gershwin and Rock, lol...mapped locations to get a better idea...and my final decision was the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan on Lexington booked directly with Hilton. This way I am secure with 2 double beds, and I'll get my Hilton Honors Rewards...and warm cookies. =)

I appreciate this site, I have always gotten great advice and ideas here. I'm not sure I posted this, maybe it's not too late to go over and share on rental car page, but for trips last fall to NOLA and Vegas (I did post about my hotel search and it was great), I used the rental car link to PRICELINE and bid. Got Hertz for NOLA for $69 Thurs-Sun...was given a Prius. But the BIG prize was VEGAS. We got in around 1 AM Vegas time, was booked for bid win Hertz, Sat-Sat, compact, the guy tried to upsale us saying how small the car will be especially if we planned on driving to Grand Canyon, which yes, we were...but I drive a Yaris so nothing is small. Well he wasn't happy we turned down his upgrade, but then he was even more unhappy when he went to assign our car...they only had a CONVERTIBLE left. =) So for $170 we had a convertible in Las Vegas for the WEEK. We sure turned some heads and that drive to the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam was priceless!

Sorry for the ramble, just again very very pleased I've found this website and again have made a happy booking!

Glad to hear you found something that works well for your needs.

Thanks for sharing your results with the board and using our Doubletree by Hilton link for your purchases.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Have a great stay.
