sfgiants13 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 I'm going to be in Oahu 6/11-6/13 and the Big Island 6/13-6/14 then back to Oahu until the 18th. I'm hoping to get a 4*+ in the waikiki beach area at a decent price but I know it's the start of the summer so I'm trying to start early but I'm not in a huge hurry. Since I'll only be in Oahu for 2 nights before heading to Kona for a night is it possible to add nights on top of my original stay so I don't have to try again and possibly get a different hotel? I was hoping to just leave the bags at the bell desk while I'm gone for about 36 hours and not have to worry about changing hotels on my way back. Last time I tried this I got Outrigger Reef and would be more than happy with that hotel. What would you recommend as starting bids for these times? I've read on rebid zones and it looks like at the 4* level I have Waianae, Diamond Head, and airport. Thanks for the help! I'll be sure to use this sites links.
thereuare Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 You can only extend your stay for continuous days, so unless you're willing to pay for an extra hotel nite while you're not there, you won't be able to extend your stay in the manner in which you'd like.To keep things better organized please only post one stay per thread. We'll use this thread for your first nites on Oahu from 6/11-6/13, feel free to start NEW TOPICS for each of the other legs of your trip.At the 4* level you do have THREE re-bid zones, but Waianae is not a selectable zone so that is not one of them... please go back to pl and confirm your third re-bid zones with the board, or if you're unable to do so, ask for help and we'll walk you thru it step-by-step.Once you have your re-bid zones confirmed, for this leg of the stay, are you willing to pay more for a Resort vs. a 4* OR is your goal the least expensive 4* or better for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. sfgiants13 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Right the 3rd rebid is executive. The goal is to try to keep it in the ballpark of $150/night without taxes but I'd be willing to go a little above that in order to get a resort if that's the case. But if resorts get too outrageous the next goal would be the cheapest 4* or better.
thereuare Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 At current prices my initial guess is that a Resort in the Waikiki Beach zone will run about $150-$165; and just for comparison purposes a 4* in the Waikiki Marina area may cost $100-$120.Using your THREE re-bid zones you can try as follows:Select Resort Waikiki Beach...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135If the above is rejected (which i assume it will likely be, but with time in your side no harm trying to lowball at first) we can revise to try again in 24 hours more line with your $150 maximum bid, and if rejected from there decide if you'd like to raise a little further (to $165) or consider other nearby zones. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. sfgiants13 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Posted January 30, 2012 All got rejected as we both figured. Looks like I should try again in 24 hours.
thereuare Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 24 hours after your last rejected bid you can re-try:Select Resort Waikiki Beach...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. If this too is rejected let us know if you'd like to increase your maximum bid to $165, lower your star rating, or wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. sfgiants13 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 I was able to get Outrigger Reef for $159 (a little more than planned but not bad at all) for 6/11-6/13. I stayed here the only time I was in HI before for 7 nights and loved the hotel so I'm quite happy.
