CrazyCamel09 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Hi All,Thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking at options for a pre-valentines day trip to DC, and like staying in the Arlington area for convenience and affordability. I noticed the following offer on Hotwire for all of the dates below:2/9-2/122/10-2/122/10-2/13$57 / NightBoutiqueSmoke-Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet Access90% Recommend RateJust trying to get an I.D. on this one since it matches the Palomar except for "Boutique". I'm pretty familiar with all the options in the area and can't really think of any others that would be boutique outside of Palomar, but wanted to pick your brains as to any other options. Anyways, as always I plan to book using your HOTWIRE link, thanks again for your help.Benjamin

CrazyCamel09 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Report Posted February 1, 2012 Good Morning!,Just wanted to quickly follow up. I woke up this morning, decided to check Hotwire for the dates of 2/10 - 2/13 and noticed that a similar offer had appeared. 4* Arlington, $58 + Tax & Fees / Night. Amenities Set: Boutique, Restaurant(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Business Center, Fitness Center, HS Internet. 90% recommend rating, 4.5's on all the "metrics" that are listed. I went ahead and pulled the trigger as I couldn't miss this great a deal for our trip. The hotel is Palomar Arlington, which I am super excited about. I noticed in the hotel list that Palomar doesn't have Boutique listed in the reported amenities list yet, hope this helps everyone. As always, clicked through the HOTWIRE link, to both research, and book.CrazyCamel09

CrazyCamel09 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 Good Evening all,Not sure if this is the proper place to ask the question, but I guess as a follow-up to my win, after visiting Palomar's site, I wanted to ask for opinions here. Upon visiting Palomar's site I found a message as follows:"Effective February 21, 2012, Hotel Palomar Arlington and Domaso Trattoria Moderna have been sold and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will no longer serve as the Management Company due to the ownership change. HEI Hotels and Resorts will be the new Management company and will be operating the hotel under an franchise agreement with Starwood Hotels and Le Meridian, they can be contacted for any future needs"This just caught my eye, and was curious to know if anyone thinks this will effect the stay, arrangements, quality, etc. I know this type of thing probably happens more than i'm aware of, but anyone think this is anything to be concerned about. I guess technically this doesn't occur until about a week after my stay, but would this seemingly imply any construction, etc?Thanks,CrazyCamel09
thereuare Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 It's possible that the hotel may not rush to fix things that have broken, but Kimpton has a pretty good reputation, as does Starwood, so i wouldn't expect any major noticeable differences, but you never know in such a situation.
