panpanpie Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 I'm planning a 30th anniversary trip for my parents, and I would like them to stay at a 5 star hotel. I was hoping to get the Palazzo for around 125/night, since these hotels all charge a resort fee. I've used Priceline before for a Houston, Texas stay, but I really don't want to mess this up for them. They will be staying from February 16 - 22. Thanks so much for the help!
AaronJB Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Are both North (where 5*'s include the Palazzo and others) and South Strip acceptable? Additionally, it's not possible to bid for a particular property - when bidding for a 5* in a particular zone, one has to accept any 5* within the zone. HOTWIRE - where you can make an educated guess as to what hotels are showing - may be a better choice in this case. Are any listings of interest showing on HOTWIRE when you search for these dates?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
panpanpie Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Sorry about the misleading title; I forgot to change it. I originally was trying to aim for Bellagio or Palazzo, but then realized they were in 2 different zones. I would be okay with most of the hotels located in Las Vegas Strip North, except for Trump Tower. The Palazzo, Aria, Wynn, and Encore all look great for my parents. If I cannot get the price I'm looking for (125-150 max), should I wait to try again another day or just downgrade hotels? Will the price decrease as it gets closer to the travel dates? Thanks so much for your help!Edit: Hotwire has one 5 star for 171/night. Its:Las Vegas Strip North Area Hotel90% recommendedAmenities: Spa Services, Resort, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s)
thereuare Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 The HOTWIRE property above is a match for the Trump so that would be my best guess for this one.If you want to try bidding for a 5* hotel, Strip North or Strip South, with a $150 maximum bid, you can try as follows:When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and 5* Strip South...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
panpanpie Posted January 23, 2012 Author Report Posted January 23, 2012 I tried bidding again on 5 star hotels, but no luck. I didn't want my parents to have to move hotels, so I downgraded to a 4 star hotel. I ended up getting the Tropicana for $75.00. Thanks so much for your help!
AaronJB Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice result for this recently renovated property. Hope your parents have a wonderful anniversary.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
