CT Traveler Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 I am looking at a 4* hotel for $89 a night on HotwireThe ammenities are:Smoke free rooms, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center and High Speed InternetIt has an 85% approval ratingIt is form 2-18 - 2/23Anyone book anything similar or have any ideas? And is it better to pay less for a nice room and be closer to the sites, or pay less for parking and stay in VA or MD?Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! The amenities above match previous reports for the The Liaison Capitol Hill and the W Hotel, so either of these would be my best guess for this one.As far as whether to pay more to stay in the city vs. less and stay outside the city is really one of personal preference and how flexible your budget is. Staying directly in the city usually costs a bit more, but it gives you a lot more flexibility to return to the room during the day to rest/freshen up, drop of bags you have picked up during the day, clean up before dinner, etc, etc. As well, you waste less vacation time commuting from your hotel to/from the city. On the other hand, staying outside the city can free up your budget to do something memorable during the trip which might otherwise be out of your budget. With a 4* hotel available for sub-$100 i would favor the city option as i don't think the savings are great enough to warrant staying outside the city, but it ultimately comes down to how flexible your budget is and how you value your time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. CT Traveler Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 I got it for the $89 a night - ended up being a little over $500 for the 5 nights, and it was the Liaison which would have been over $800 if I had booked it on their website for the week.I used the HOTWIRE link - thanks so much for the help!
