Priceline Hotel: 3* Minneapolis (Southwest) Marriott Southwest

Began looking downtown and Metrodome areas. First bid for downtown denied at $48. Added Metrodome/University and lowered to $45 but again denied. Then did new bid for Minneapolis SW at $36 but it was declined. Added downtown and raised bid to $44 to be accepted at this Marriott. I have been told this hotel is nice and it looks good.

Warning: I learned that there is a big Microsoft conference in downtown Minneapolis from 7/7 through 7/10. It seems to have claimed most hotel inventory, even at full rates. Try bidding for these hotels in the suburbs or wait to see if some of the rooms blocked for the conference get dumped on Priceline at the last minute.

At least a little surprising you didn't get the Marriott Southwest (also in this zone) which has also been reported before at rates similar to your bid amount.

Another good example of how it certainly pays to be flexible.
