jposi Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Hi,I'm trying to bid on Sanibel (only) for Friday, February 3rd. Was going to start at 3 Star for $85, but wanted to see if I should go higher. I'm willing to change my star rating but not my zone. Thanks for any help you can provide!
thereuare Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Are you familiar with re-bidding and will to add your re-bid zones? If you're new to the concept, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and it's highly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. (NOTE: you have TWO re-bid zones when bidding 3.5* in this area... Marco Island is not one of them)Feel free to confirm your re-bid zones with the board and/or if you have any questions in this regard and we'll take it from there. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels (try MAPS and HOTELS.com) and your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jposi Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 Thanks! I have bid on priceline in the past, so I am familiar with rebidding, and read the post. I don't think I'm interested in any other zone, so we'll need to get this right within two tries (my girlfriend will try with her name if we need to rebid). I've seen about $200 for 3 star, and just over that ($235) for 2.5 star. My highest bid is $115.Thanks for any advice. I will of course post our results.
thereuare Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 ...I am familiar with rebidding, and read the post. I don't think I'm interested in any other zone...I don't think you full understand, we're talking about adding zones for which you couldn't possibly win a hotel in the newly added zone. For example:ZoneA: highest rated hotel is 4*ZoneB: highest rated hotel is 3*If you were to bid for a 4* hotel and chose both ZoneA and ZoneB, do you know where the hotel would have to be located? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jposi Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 Ah yes, I think I understand. Because the highest rating in Sanibel is 3*, and all of the other zones have 3* hotels, I don't think there is a zone I can add.I'll try and see what happens.
jposi Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 I was wrong. Cape Coral, Naples- I-75, and Marco both have 2.5* and below. So, I can use those as my rebid zones as long as I request a 3*, correct?
thereuare Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 (NOTE: you have TWO re-bid zones when bidding 3.5* in this area... Marco Island is not one of them)Marco Island doesn't have any 3* rated hotels, but they do have Resorts, and the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept, so if you include Marco Island your 3* bid could be upgraded to a higher rated (Resort) hotel in Marco Island; therefore, Marco Island is not a re-bid zones. However, your the other two zones you mentioned are indeed re-bid zones.I think $115 will likely fall short for a 3* hotel, but you can try:Select 3* Sanibel-Captiva...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and re-try:Select 3* Sanibel-Captiva...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (and if your friend is doing the bidding please ask him/her to do the same)Good luck and let us know how it goes.
