Priceline Hotel: 4* New Orleans (Downtown) Sheraton New Orleans Hotel

Hi,

This is my first time trying Priceline bidding. I'm looking to stay in the French Quarter or Downtown 3/13-3/18 at a 4* hotel. My maximum price is $90.

Here's what I tried tonight, unsuccessfully:

4*-FQ $79

4*-FQ, add zone $81

4*-FQ, add zone $83

4*-FQ, add Downtown *85

4*-FQ, DT, add zone *87

4*-FQ, DT, add zone *90

4*-FQ, DT, add zone *91

Any other suggestions? Does it normally take several days to successfully get a bid?

Current rates are quite high for these dates and it doesn't appear that $90 is realistic for a 4* hotel over this complete stay. Digging a bit further, it looks like the weekend dates are much more expensive than the midweek dates, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? (by staying at two different hotels i think you have a chance at coming in close to your maximum budget (perhaps a few dollars more or a few dollars less), but you'll need to change hotels during your stay)

I split my bid Tuesday-Friday (Sheraton) and Friday-Sunday (Hyatt) and got all 5 nights for $81, using the PRICELINE links above. Cheapest on Hotwire was ~95 a night T-Th and $110 F-Sun. While the Hyatt is a bit farther away, I am very pleased to get my deal; both the Sheraton and the Hyatt are 200+ a night for those dates. The price difference is worth the effort in changing hotels.

I started both bids at $75 and worked up to $81. Seems that was the winning number for other March 4* hotel purchasers as well.
