dmeyers Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 Hi All,I have used this site before to plan a trip around USA, about 18 months ago and it was very useful, booking hotels in NY, D.C., Chicago (Using Priceline, never tried hotwire)I am visiting the west coast at the end of March for just over 3 weeks, and was hoping to get some help/advice/strategies on bidding! My plans are:San Francisco - March 27th (5 Nights)LA - (5 Nights)Santa Barbara - (4 Nights)Las Vegas - (6 Nights)Thought I would start from the begining and get SF sorted first! Looking to spend up to $150 per night (less if possible!) for a minimum of 4*. Would like to stay central. With regards to Santa Barbara, is it wise to just book through Expedia etc, as there seems to be very little mentioned on here for it!Thanks in advance for any help!

Would like to stay central. Please confirm if both USE and USW are acceptable and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. With regards to Santa Barbara, is it wise to just book through Expedia etc, as there seems to be very little mentioned on here for it!It depends upon your needs for this leg of your stay... are your plans flexible OR do you need to stay in a specific part of the zone, need specific amenities for this trip, etc. Please use separate topics for each leg of your trip, we'll use this thread for your San Francisco leg, please start NEW TOPICS for Santa Barbara and the other legs of your trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dmeyers Posted January 17, 2012 Author Report Posted January 17, 2012 Hi,Thanks for the reply. I have clicked the link also.I would be happy with USE and USW, and probably fishermans wharf also?I will start up a separate thread for Santa Barbara and the others.Thanks.
thereuare Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I would be happy with USE and USW, and probably fishermans wharf also? There is currently no 4* bidding offered in the Fisherman's Wharf zone, so that's not an option if you're looking to stick with a 4* minimum. When bidding in San Francisco you have EIGHT re-bid zones at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* USE...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USW...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE and USW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 Select USW bid $80, if rejected add Japan TownSelect USW bid $85, if rejected add SFO North San BrunoSelect USW bid $90, if rejected add South San FranciscoSelect USW bid $95, if rejected add Civic Centre NorthSelect USW bid $100, if rejected add RichmondSelect USW bid $80, if rejected add Fishermans WharfYou have your current re-bid zones correct (always double check just before bidding) but i'm assuming the amount on the last line you posted is just a typo and you didn't change it to $105 before posting. If my assessment is correct, then all looks good. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck! AaronJB Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this Hilton property! Hope the hotel will work well for your travel plans.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
WindyCityHokie Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 You should be very pleased with the location of Hilton, Union Square. It has been several years since I stayed there, but it is nice, large hotel that seems to be geared towards business/convention business. As I recall rooms were good sized.
