As it seems they sell officially (non-opaque) only their suites and here is nothing said about suites - let's see how "flexible" they are? Actually most websites even the Hyatt says "all rooms have fully equipped kitchenette" ...

Some years ago I won the Woodfin Suites also in Hotwire and had some nice discussions at check-in. How can Hyatt sell Suites and then offer normal rooms to the customers? Let's see

So do you say the new brand "Hyatt Home" and also the old "Summerfield Suites" are supposed to be "Suite-only" properties as Residence Inn or so? I mean e.g. Priceline sells this property as 2,5* (as most of the Suite hotels), hotwire as 3,5* - interesting, isn't it?

Can I rely on the star level a specific size of the rooms? Or is this only about the "amenities" and services they offer?

I don't think you can equate star level to room size (just look at the 3.5* Hudson Hotel in NYC where rooms can be as small as ~140sq. ft)... and where in many large cities there are some 4* hotels which can't accommodate quad occupancy and some 3* properties that can.

Thanks guys! I sent a email to Hyatt Summerfield Suites what do they guarantee in all "summerfield suites"? so I need to expect some interesting discussion on this topic during check-in - let's see...

just to follow up here:

we had some longer discussion/negotiation yesterday with the reception at Hyatt House San Diego (ex-Woodfin Suites):

- they sell their suites exklusively via the Hyatt Webpage - the "double-rooms" via Priceline (2,5*) and hotwire (3,5*)

- the double rooms are basically ok but (!!) the only have QUEENSIZE beds

- for 1 guest this seems to be suitable but for a couple it's a quite tight bed :(

- they offer to upgrade for $20++/night what I refused as I we booked a rooms for 2 persons at hotwire and the bed isnot suitable for 2!

- after manager approval we got upgraded to a suite with king size bed :)

I asked the receptionist to change the lower hotwire price for 1 person searches and the $20 more to the 2-persons search - however there is already a "problem" that hotwire rates this 3,5* and priceline 2,5*!!! Also the 3,5* should mean a specific size of bed, shouldn't it?

A queen sized bed is certainly within 'industry standards' to accommodate two people... i think you were fortunate that the hotel manager was willing to waive the upgrade fee.

Yes maybe in bigger cities and private older hotels - but how come Hotwire rates this 3,5*, PL only 2,5* - at least hotwire could change the 2-people search to the $20 higher charge

Still a good Suite-Hotel (after our stay in 2008) but the double-room isnot really an option for a "Hyatt House" brand!!

As far as star rating, each service has their own criteria to rate hotels, but the full one star rating between the two services is somewhat uncommon (although not unheard of)

In regards to the pricing issue, it's up to each hotel to adjust their rates by an extra $20 (in this instance) for rooms with two beds/quad occupancy.
