j-rad Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Trying to book a hotel in the Hollywood area for 2/12-2/15 - I see a lot of people have had recent success getting the W for $105-110. I'd like to spend no more than $120 (since parking will add another $20-40/night), and would be willing to stay in the Hollywood/West Hollywood/Bev Hills/Santa Monica areas. Any ideas for a bidding strategy? Anything better than the W that can be had for this price point? To give an idea of what we will be doing/seeing:The GroveFarmer's MarketSanta Monica PierVenice BeachGriffith ObservatoryDoes it make sense to stay in West Hollywood over Hollywood with this agenda? I am planning on renting a car, but would rather do public transportation if it is cheaper/easier (due to parking) for the places I listed wanting to visit.
thereuare Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! To confirm, you're willing to accept any of these PRICELINE zones:Beverly Hills - West HollywoodHollywoodSanta Monica - Marina Del ReyI'll leave it to somebody else more local to the area to comment on mass transit availability in the area, but i will add that i don't think you have as much flexibility as you think... your dates include Valentine's Day, typically a very busy nite for hotels, so i think a 4* hotel in any of these zones will likely cost a bit more than $120/nite based upon the prices i'm currently seeing. Please confirm your zone(s) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. j-rad Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 I think I'll go with Hollywood and Beverly Hills - West Hollywood, probably with West Hollywood as the preference. I'd like to stay away from the Beverly Hilton and Le Montrose if possible, though. If not possible to segregrate these from West Hollywood with a bidding strategy, I'd then shift my preference of location to Hollywood over West Hollywood.
thereuare Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 With PRICELINE there is no way to target/avoid a specific hotel in the zone. Do you therefore want to only bid Hollywood up to your $120 limit, before considering adding (Beverly Hills - West Hollywood)... or is price ultimately the deciding factor and the least expensive 4* or better in either of these two zones is the goal? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... j-rad Posted February 28, 2012 Author Report Posted February 28, 2012 Ended up renting a small apartment at Venice beach instead of booking a hotel.
