I've been bidding for several days now, using re-bid zones to try to get a 3* to 3 1/2* hotel in the Times Square / TheaterDistrict zone of New York City. I start at $100 and work my way up by $5 increments until I get to $160 and nada, zip, zilch. Am I bidding too early? Do I really have to bid over $200? Priceline is supposed to be 60% less than other websites. What am I missing here?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

PRICELINE often provides an excellent discount, but there is no standard discount level, and discounts - while still good - may be less if it's a busy period/season. Rates can also vary substantially from day-to-day and season-to-season. In the case, you're dealing with the popular Spring season and possibly a graduation or two. Are you only looking for TS/Theater District? (which tends to be the most expensive zone in the NYC area) What would be your desired budget per night?
