seaile Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I have never been to New York and I have been looking at hotels for September I was looking at the Essex House but the reviews changed my mind I like the LeMeridian or Intercontinental I have no idea which location or hotel would be better I have researched on Tripadvisor and Frommers. Price is not the issue I just want the best experience. I was also looking at the New York Palace hotel as well. Just to throw that in there. I would appreciate any insight.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 What are the actual dates of your trip? Why these two? (i don't think they'd be at the top of the list of 'best hotels NYC has to offer'... but do keep in mind that this board is an affiliate of the Inter-Continental)I would also recommend not seeking the "NYC hotel experience" as i think you will be disappointed. Generally speaking, most NYC hotels cater to the business crowd and are impersonal. Is there really no budget, because if that is the case there are certainly hotels that will cater to your every need, but they come at a hefty fee. seaile Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 The experiance really has nothing to do with the hotel being that I am not planning on being in it most of the time. I really am talking about the area that it would be located. September 1-5 the reason these hotels I looked at the top hotels on Tripadvisor and they are the ones I liked. I have had good experiances with Le Meridian in Paris (both of them) and that is a big factor here.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Any midtown location should be fine for your needs... NYC is much smaller (geography-wise) than people realize and it is very easy to get about. What are the prices of the above hotels... maybe we can help find something better for the same amount of money or find these hotels cheaper than you're seeing them. seaile Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 Hotwire had what I believe to be LeMeridian $231 on the website $285 Intercontinental $183 I can get Essex House via American Airlines Vacations for 1176 for four nights New York Palace Expedia had a deal $234 a night I found excellent deals just having trouble deciding the best deal for me.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 There is no punctuation in your post above so i can't really follow what prices go with which hotels, but what is it that you're looking for in your hotel stay?Locationwise i think they'll all be fine... what type of things do you want to be close to, will you be taking taxis/bus/subway for most of your travel, what things do you intend on doing during your trip, etc? thereuare Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Probably the non-priceline/hotwire hotel i most frequently recommend is the Beekman Tower which seems like it would work well for you as it's sort of on the perimeter of things yet convenient enough to get whereever you need to go. REVIEWS are great and you get a 'true' 1BR suite for $200/nite. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
urhere Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 The link you have for the Beekman takes me to Easyclicktravel.com and refers to an 'off the record' hotel. Is this for the Beekman?
thereuare Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 Yes. :) For other "off the record" deals check out our EASY CLICK TRAVEL REVERSE LOOK-UP which will be greatly expanded in the next few days.
