ICG in California Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I'll be in NYC from 5/20/12 - 5/25/12, 2 adults. Ideally looking for midtown-east, Midtown west or Times Square. Is HOTWIRE better than PRICELINE? I want a clean and reputable hotel. Thanks for any help!
thereuare Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't, please start by reading your messages. In regards to PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, there really isn't a "better", it's more so determined by your comfort level in making an opaque purchase and your needs for this stay. PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to know to know a little more about the hotel as it often includes amenities offered by the property, percent recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests, and sometimes a Tripadvisor review rating (and you can sometimes use this information to make an educated guess as to which property you may receive). So if bottomline price is the most important factor, and you're willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the given star star rating, the PRICELINE may be a better choice... if you'd prefer to guarantee certain amenities, know previous guests thoughts as to the hotel you're about to purchase, and/or take a guess as to the property offered, then HOTWIRE may be a better, although slightly more expensive, option.Let us know your expected budget (per nite before fees and taxes) and desired star rating and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
