Hotwire Hotel: Advice regarding 4* strip or getting Renaissance for 5/26-28

Hello. I am a new member and would like some counsel.

Using the HOTWIRE link through my messages, I see what I believe to be the Westin Casuarina available for Memorial Day Weekend for $120/nt.

Amenities listed are:

Recommended by 60%

Casino

Smoke Free Rooms

Fitness center

Pool

Rest.

Bus Ctr

Interent

Golf Nrby

Spa Services

Although the hotel's location is seemingly ideal, I am concerned about the lackluster reviews.

Alternatively, through my step-daughter I have the opportunity to rent for the employee rate of $90 at the Renaissance at the Convention Center.

I am asking for advice...is it better to rent on Hotwire and get a so-so Hotel on the Strip for $120 or get a nicer than so-so (but still not great) hotel WAY off the Strip for $90?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think i'd take either of these options... i'd sooner book Bills Gamblin Hall for $115/nite which is refundable (double check during the checkout process) and hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead. If you end up here, it's a solid 3* property, doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms are nice and the location can't be beat... do note that they don't have a pool, if that is important to you for this stay. Another option if you can stretch your budget a bit would be Harrahs for $130/nite (again, refundable but double check on your own).

In Vegas, especially if it's your first time there and you'll only be in town for 2 nites, i think location, location, and location are the most important factors. As well, each of these gives you something that you can live with while you continue to hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead.

Thank you thereuare for your response and honesty.

I am kind of bummed to learn Renaissance wouldn't be a decent option.

I think I will heed your advice and reserve at Harrah's and hope for better HOTWIRE and/or PRICELINE offerings closer to the date.

As an aside, the Vdara has room for $160. Any feedback on that place?

Again, thank you for your help. If and when I try bidding again I will, of course, use the price.lien and HOTWIRE links.

The Vdara is great... new, beautiful, 5 star, and a very different experience than any of the other hotels discussed so far, but you're now getting into a different tier in regards of budget as well (keep in mind the Vdara also charges a resort fee of ~$20/day). If you do decide to go this route please use our link to the Vdara.
