tagleader Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Attempted $125 on 4 star hotels in downtown Charleston. Was rejected, but Priceline 'allowed' (proposed) me to bid $145 without making changes. That was accepted by French Quarter Inn. After taxes, the total for 3 nights is $519.21, which is about $173 per night. Taxes and Fees were $84.21 total or $28.07 per night. Rack rate online at French Quarter Inn is $199 online (which I assume is the pre-tax price), and it is a holiday weekend with a lot of area hotels completely booked, so I don't think this is a bad price.I chose to use Priceline, since Hotwire's definition of 'Downtown' included the Marriott (which looked like the likely pick for their $147 offer) on the other side of the peninsula (Ashley river), far from the historic district, while Priceline's definition of 'downtown' just included the historic/market district.
