Started off bidding of $50 in scottsdale area and have basically added all areas in the city and the last bid of $85 was not accepted. Really want to get into a 4* for this trip and stay under $100/night, are there any reasons why these dates are so $$$? The most I saw in the forum was around $75/night on a 4*

I don't know if anything is happening in this area over these dates, but this stay does include Valentine's Day, which is typically a very busy nite for hotels. (EDIT TO ADD: i did find a few healthcare conferences over these dates: Y90, HCCA Managed Care Compliance, CHS Directors Conference... but not sure how big of a draw any of these are)

What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

Ended up adding the north phoenix area to the list and bid of $95/night was accepted, Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. I was a little disapointed by this one only because I saw in a recent post for similar days in feb at the same $95 someone got a really nice downtown listing.

Sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the result - hopefully the hotel will exceed expectations. Not a bad deal with the lowest regular rate at $156 and change.
