Daevan21 Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 There's 4 of us total and we're looking to stay Las Vegas Strip North or South in a priceline 5* rated property. The prices won are showing in the low $100s but we tried $101-$134 for March 14 - 17 for Las Vegas North and Las Vegas South and got turned down. Any suggestions? Or are we just way too low for March Madness time-frame? We would also be okay with staying at PH, Mirage, Hard Rock, or Palms but when you include those 4* properties in the possible hotels, you open yourself up to possibly being placed in TI, Rio, Monte Carlo, MGM, NYNY or some other place we aren't interested in. Help!
AaronJB Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 March Madness would likely cause rates to raise and/or less aggressive discounts due to expectations of walk-ins. What would be your desired max bid per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Daevan21 Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 I think we would likely want to stay at $150 or below. I've looked at Hotwire's hidden deals and there is one on there for $109 that looks like it is probably the Trump Condos (it lists a kitchenette). Anybody ever have luck with Travelocity's Top Secret deals? There's one on there at $121 but they don't give as many details.

AaronJB Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Unfortunately, very few of the Travelocity "Top Secret" deals in general have been reported to the board.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Travelocity links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 There's 4 of us total...Are you searching for only one room? Are you included quad occupancy in your HOTWIRE searches?I think we would likely want to stay at $150 or below. I've looked at Hotwire's hidden deals and there is one on there for $109 that looks like it is probably the Trump Condos (it lists a kitchenette). What are the full list of amenities HOTWIRE associates with this property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Daevan21 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 Should I be telling it that we have 4? In past years if I was booking straight through the hotel, I would tell it two people even though we had 4 - then request two queens or doubles. If you book through priceline or hotwire, are you able to request bed preferences? When I tell Hotwire that the room is for 4 people the price jumps to $166. Amenities list is . . Spa ServicesResortSmoke FreeFitness CenterPoolsRestaurantsHi Speed InternetKitchenetteThere's also one in the Strip West Area - Condo for $168, which sound like the Palms Place to me . . .Amenities . . .StudioFully Equipped KitchenCasinoDaily HousekeepingAir ConditioningFitness CenterPoolsRestaurantsBusiness CenterFront Desk24-Hour Front DeskGolf NEarbySpa ServicesCondoIf both are what I expect - the first one Trump and the second one Palms - then we'll probably try and rebid for Strip North or South for any 5* (besides North Condo zone/Trump of course) starting at $140 and going up to $185 in increments of 5. That would be 9 bids, if I add a new non-5* zone each time it should work right?
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 HOTWIRE only guarantees bedding for the party indicated; if two or less, one bed is likely. If indicated four or more, bedding for the party is likely, although that could be 2 beds or 1 + sofa, etc. There is no way to guarantee exact bedding type via either service - occasionally HOTWIRE listings offer bed choice, but this is not seen terribly often. Only one bed is guaranteed via PRICELINE. There have been instances of users being charged more or told no in Vegas when asking for two beds at higher-end properties. Please do not link to search results (the link will not work) - if the North listing below is 5* - which I'm also seeing when searching - it would likely be a match for the Trump. If 4.5* NSW - which I'm also seeing - likely Palms Place. Is the risk of one bed worth taking the risk w/PRICELINE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Daevan21 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 I bid starting at $150 and planned to go to $200 per night on Vegas Strip North and Vegas Strip Vicinity South only for 5 star properties. We are going from 3/14/12 to 3/17/12, which is the beginning of the March Madness tournament and a busy period. My bid was accepted for Vdara at $180. To see how much money I saved, I went on over to Vdara's official website and found out that the Priceline deal I had won cost more than the same room booking direct with the hotel. Priceline is refunding me the difference. Booking direct with Vdara it would've been approximately $169 per night.
AaronJB Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Sorry to hear that the result was a disappointment, but glad PRICELINE refunded the difference w/the best price guarantee. Hope you are looking forward to your stay.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
