Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Sorry to hear that your bids weren't accepted. :(

What would be your desired max bid per night, and which zones/star ratings would be acceptable? (Are you looking for 5* North only?)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

On Priceline - 5* Strip North

Wynn Las Vegas

Fri, (02/10) $153.30

Sat, (02/11) $181.30

Sun, (02/12) $181.30

Mon, (02/13) $209.30

Venetian

Fri, (02/10) $236.50

Sat, (02/11) $236.50

Sun, (02/12) $236.50

Mon, (02/13) $236.50

based on winning bids $125 should be fine, I don't get it.

Not sure how you can draw this conclusion based upon the rates you posted, but i disagree... what above is indicative that $125 should be enough?

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Las Vegas can be a little different than other cities. It is possible to not be successful with Priceline until one is actually higher than rates right on the hotel web sites.

For the record, I speak from experience. Many years ago, and the rookie mistake of not knowing exactly what my next best option was. It was a big $5, but the lesson learned was worth lots more.

Often there are great savings with bidding, but not always.

You might consider splitting your bid? That high rate on the 13th might actually mean there isn't any Priceline availability. 2/2 or even 3/1 splits.

If I got Wynn, savings would be only 31%, I have and seen people save a lot more.

I too have seen savings of much more than 31%... but i have also seen less. However, your logic is flawed since rates are not the same throughout the entire stay. Hotels do not always average the minimum bid price needed for each nite of the stay to determine the minimum bid price needed for the entire stay... using your example above, it's possible that the hotel above requires the minimum bid price needed for the $209 nite in order to win for the entire stay (or some more complex formula that this... but hopefully you get the idea/concept)

This may be an instance where Hotwire is your best bet... they have a 5* North for these dates @ 126 (I assume it is Trump) as well as a 4* South for $77 (probably Tropicana) and a 4* North for $110 (guessing Treasure Island?).

Thanks for the advice. I want a 5* on Strip North, excluding Trump (no casino). I have a back-up, refundable reservation for Cosmopolitan $141 + tax, they do not have a resort fee. So I thought I could get Venetian for $125 + $20 resort fee = $145 + tax, and that would still be over what I am paying to stay at Cosmopolitan, just like the Venetian poker room

You have some time; you may want to consider continuing to try up to $125 (if that is your desired max) and seeing if new inventory comes online between now and your stay.

If you have bid up to $125 and it has not been accepted, you may want to wait a few days and try up to $125 again and see if it's accepted/if new discounted inventory is added. There is no way to know for sure if new inventory will be added, but if $125 is your limit, then it's worth a try to bid up to that level every few days.
