barbgray Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I'm looking for a Hotwire hotel for Boston from July 18-22. My husband really wants to be in the downtown Boston area or very close-by. Two hotels come up in the area: 1. Quincy Market $159; amenities include "best value" hotel with restaurant and fitness center. 2. Boston Common Theater District, 3.5* $179, customer favorite, hotel, restaurant, fitness center, high speed internet access, and business center. Any idea what these hotels might be? Thanks, Barb
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 What happened with your HOTWIRE SEATTLE thread? (please follow-up that thread) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
barbgray Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 See Seattle thread for update. As to the Boston question, that hotel is for a trip my husband and son are taking. (Can you tell I do all the family hotel bookings?) I am reluctant to use priceline, as it seems each Boston bidding area has at least one hotel that I would not want to get. Any help on the two hotels mentioned above would be much appreciated.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 The Quincy Market hotel is a match for the Millenium Bostonian so that would be our best guess on that property. Not sure about the 3.5* property. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thenewbie Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Those prices are almost on par with the regular rates of hotels on Expedia:Club Quarters $149Radisson $159Courtyard Tremont $179For Boston, Priceline seems to be the better avenue for 4* Downtown properties. Most likely, you could get a 4* for less than what Hotwire is showing for your 2 hotels.
barbgray Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 I'm sure you are correct, but I have tried four times so far for Boston Downtown on priceline and failed at bids up to $125. In addition, I read some mixed reviews of the Boston Park Plaza, which I believe is in the Downtown/Boston Commons area, and mixed reviews for the Boston Colonade (Copley area) as well. So now I'm feeling uncertain about trying again with priceline even though Hotwire savings are not that great.

barbgray Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 Okay, to follow up, I bought the Quincy Market 4* hotel and it is the Millennium Boston. The website rate is $269 and Expedia is $229, so I think this is a good deal. Thanks very much for your help! Now if I can just get Seattle settled. . .
thereuare Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Congratulations!Glad you got the hotel expected and we were able to help you figure it out beforehand.Hope your husband and son have a nice time together and enjoy their stay.
