Priceline Hotel: 3* St. Petersburg - Clearwater (Northwest) Residence Inn Clearwater Downtown

Very pleased with hotel as I wanted this one due to high ratings, and no additional charges. Price maybe not as good as others have won in this area over recent months, but time period requested is getting into high season, so I think I did okay. Retail rate currently $169 for that period. Could possibly have done better if waited til closer to time, but wanted certainty (and who knows what inventory would be later).

Have been trying to get deals on 3.5* and 4* beachfront hotels in nearby Clearwater Beach, but several recent attempts have won nothing with bidding up to $135. As they all add resort fees, this was getting beyond what I wanted to pay, so turned attention to this 3* property.

Began bidding at $85 in this zone, expanding to other zones as per recommended strategy. $90 - rejected. At $95 added Clearwater Beach zone in case might win a 3* there. Received offer back to try at $112 for this zone. Thought I would test that first, but running out of zones without other 3* properties. So tried with the $102 bid (thinking the "02" might have some threshold significance) and won it at that level.

Definitely not a bad result for this Residence Inn property, and free breakfast is always a nice bonus.
