njk27 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I am trying to get the best rate for a 5* hotel (preferably the Vdara or Aria) from 1/19-1/24. I have seen some go in the $75-$80 Range. I have bid up to $91 thus far. Any suggestions? Or do you suggest any other areas? Just going to Vegas for fun. I have no specific plans however I want to have fun with my significant other. I prefer to stay on the strip Thanks in advance. Great site btw.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! (and thanks for the compliments on the site :) )If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.Sub-$100 rates are not that common for 5* hotels and when available are typically only for the slowest of dates, which usually means not over weekends... and for these particular dates you have a 45K person convention taking place from 1/17-1/20 followed by a 30K person convention from 1/18-1/21. While Vegas can absorb this many people, it will have an effect on hotel rates, and you're probably looking at at least $140-$165 for a 5* hotel over these dates (and perhaps more)What is your maximum bid for this trip? How high are you willing to bid for a 5* before lowering your star rating to the 4* level? Have you only bid the Strip South zone or have you also included the Strip North zone? If only Strip South, is there a reason you're avoiding the Strip North zone? (are the hotels in this zone or the location not acceptable?)Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. njk27 Posted January 5, 2012 Author Report Posted January 5, 2012 I have been reading bad things about getting Trump in the North Zone. I have been to Vegas one other time and ended up acquiring food poisoning for my first 3 days there. I would like to stay in the nicest place possible for under $100 per night, as I know there is a $20 resort fee at most places. A 4* may be another option as I am just trying to get the most bang for my buck.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 On PRICELINE Trump has last been reported in the Strip North Condo zone so you should safely be able to avoid it by not choosing this zone (which is different then the Strip North zone). However, $100 isn't likely going to be enough in the Strip North zone.If you decide to drop to 4*, is the Westin an acceptable outcome, as it's located in PRICELINE's Strip South zone, but is actually located slightly off-strip.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. njk27 Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 I would prefer not to stay in the Westin as it is off strip. What would be likely outcomes and possibilities for getting a 4* in the north or south zone? Thanks again.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 You can see the hotels reported to the board in each zone in our Priceline Hotel List.If bidding the 4* level the only way to avoid the Westin would be to not include the Strip South zone (and therefore only be bidding the Strip North zone)... or use HOTWIRE and choose a hotel which you're reasonably sure is not the Westin, based upon the amenities showing bofore your purchase.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
