Priceline Hotel: Las Vegas 4* or 5* <$100

Hello,

I am trying to plan a trip for 2 to go to Vegas 1/20/12-1/22/12.

1 room in a 4* or 5* hotel. North or South end of the strip is okay with me.

I would like to pay less than $100 a night, any ideas whether this is possible or not?

I've seen other posts in which the bidder has up to 11 rebid zones but when I do my search this is all that comes up.

redbid zones for 5*

West of Strip 0 hotels

East of Strip 0 hotels

Fremont St - Downtown Area 0 hotels

North Las Vegas 0 hotels

Henderson - Lake Las Vegas 0 hotels

Boulder Highway Strip 0 hotels

redbid for 4*

north las vegas

boulder strip

Please give any advice. North Las Vegas doesn't even come up on the rebid zones for me. Am I doing something wrong?

$100 or less for a 5* in Strip North is unlikely for these dates, and may not be enough for a 5* South for these dates. 4* should not be an issue; there's 4* options in Strip North and South for your dates for around $85 - and PRICELINE would most likely require less ($65-75) for a 4* in either Strip North or South.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

You're using the 'retail' section of PRICELINE to determine your re-bid zones, and this is not correct, you should be on the 'bidding' side of PRICELINE when determining your re-bid zones. See this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, and see if you can determine your re-bid zones OR if you read the previous link and are still confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Got it, so these are my rebid zones:

NW Las Vegas

Near Las Vegas Strip East

Near Las Vegas Strip West

Nellis

Summerlin

What would your suggestion on a price strategy be? I would be willing to go up to $115/night.

While i don't think $115 will be enough for a 5* hotel (i'm assuming Strip North Condo is not a zone you're willing to accept?), you can start with the following, using your ELEVEN re-bid zones:

Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115

If/when the above is rejected, note that SUMMERLIN is NOT a re-bid zone at the 4* level... while this zone does not contain any 4* properties, it does contain Resort class hotels. Since the star rating you choose is the minimum you're willing to accept, PRICELINE can upgrade your 4* bid to a Resort class property... therefore, Summerlin is not a re-bid zone at the 4* level, you have FOUR re-bid zones when bidding 4* in Las Vegas.

Any questions on the 5* bidding let us know.

Good luck.

Perfect, thanks! One other question, at the end when I am without any luck, what is the process of incoporating 4* in? Will I be able to drop my price and take off the zones and essentially restart with my 4 rebid zones. Thanks for telling me about Summerlin that would have been a big mistake!

...at the end when I am without any luck...

You're heading to the wrong city if you're out of luck ;)

When you're done bidding 5* if you then want to try for a 4* hotel (for which rates are much less) you'll need to closer the browser and use our PRICELINE link to re-access PRICELINE.. this will give you a 'clean slate' to begin your 4* bidding. However, at the 4* level note that the Strip South zone contains the Westin, which is slightly off-strip, would this be an acceptable outcome? After you've tried bidding 5* letting us regarding the Westin and Strip South zone and we'll suggest a strategy for you to try at the 4* level.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck.

I think you can succeed in the Strip North zone within your budget, so to avoid the Westin, we will not include the Strip South zone in the bidding.

At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Strip North...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75

If the above is rejected HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Strip North zone for $77 with:

Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Golf, Spa which i'm guessing is the Treasure Island, and you can purchase this thru HOTWIRE if the PRICELINE bidding above fails.

There are many 4* hotels in the Strip South zone and while there is no telling which one you will receive if you were to be successful for this upcoming stay, the Westin is won 'enough' that i would consider it a decent possibility.

If you'd rather avoid that property, what about the $77 HOTWIRE offer in the Strip North zone?

1) As I wait do you think the prices will go down or up?

2) For $82 a night do you think the Tropicana is a good deal?

3) I have limited experience with both the Tropicana and Treasure Island, which is nicer? or preferred?

4) Do you think at the price point I would have better luck using priceline and bidding my own price?

I just returned from a stay at the Tropicana. IMHO, the newly renovated Trop is one of the nicest 4* properties in all of Las Vegas. I personally prefer it to Treasure Island. But, realistically, it should come down to where, geographically, you prefer to be. Would you rather see the stuff in the vicinity of the Venetian, Ceasars, Mirage - that would auger for picking TI. If you'd rather see stuff in the vicinity of the MGM, New York, New York, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, that would augur for picking the Trop. City Center is sort of midway between them.

Also, when are you going? Is pool important? if so, I'd say the Trop's pools are nicer.

Thanks for the info, I did hear that the Trop went under a major renovation in 2011 so I was happy about that. To be honest all I care about is the room. I'll be going January 20-22 so pool wont really be an issue unless they've already opened their pools which I don't think they do until mid Feb.

They had one pool open, and about 10-20 people were using it (well, sitting around it, not actually swimming) during the times I looked last week, when the high temperatures just about reached 70 degrees. All the pools were filled and clean, so they could open them all whenever the weather and the demand warrants it.

Please provide the date/s of travel.

There is a detailed discussion of timing in the PRICELINE FAQ.

PRICELINE is generally cheaper, but one has to be willing to accept any of the possible properties based upon the zone/s and star rating (although one can possibly be upgraded if there is a higher star rating) chosen.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I'm just posting to see if I can get confirmation that this is the Monte Carlo.....unfortunately, I didn't book when I was confident it was the Tropicana

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

The Strip South property above is a match for the Westin Casuarina so that would be my best guess for this one.
