Ben & Reem Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 I just posted a priceline win that i got a stay at the Extended stay America in brook park OH (2* $30) a few days ago.We loved it because it had the kitchen. The kitchen is very important to our stays and we would do anything to avoid getting a hotel that didn't have one.I went onto priceline to bid for next week and I'm seeing things have changed. Where it used to just list a 2* and a 2.5* (Hampton and Extended stay) now it lists a 2.5*, 2* and 1*. I also noticed the Extended stay america has been changed into a 1* on priceline, so now i don't know how to bid. Can someone analyze the new map for that area (brookpark-Brooklyn oh) because i have tried and i cant figure out what they've done do change it and i don't know what the 2* hotel would be if extended stay has become a 1*. I'm trying my best to get a hotel with a kitchen. Any advice is very welcome. If there are other extended stays in the Cleveland area (west side, not downtown) I would appreciate any advice in getting those too.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 You won't be able to only target hotels with kitchenettes on PRICELINE; if this is an important aspect of your stay you'll need to use HOTWIRE and choose a hotel which shows Kitchenette as an amenity. The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, but you'll be assured of receiving a hotel with the amenity(s) you're seeking. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Ben & Reem Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 Sounds good, but is there any way to know that if the hotel was changed to 1* on Priceline that it's the one i'll get if i bid on a 1*? Since i bid on it and got it before, i'd really like to try again.
Ben & Reem Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 hmm...and after taking a look at hotwire, it seems they dont list a kitchenette as an amenity at all? I'm not seeing it on any of the hotels, and it's not even a selection in the side bar?
Ben & Reem Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 sorry for the multiple posts, but after doing some research this is what i've found:There are 3 hotels in the area:Hampton Inn (Which i'm presuming is the 2.5* option)America's Best Value Inn (1* with horrible reviews ~3.5/10)Extended Stay America (1* with 7+/10 reviews)since the options to bid are 1*, 2* and 2.5* am i correct to assume that they'll make the Extended stay the 2 because of the great ratings? I feel like i've read this happening to someone else on the boards.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 ...if the hotel was changed to 1* on Priceline that it's the one i'll get if i bid on a 1*? Since i bid on it and got it before, i'dNo, you could receive this property OR a different hotel in the zone that is rated 1*... or you could be upgraded to a higher rated hotel (since the star rating you select on PRICELINE is the minimum you are willing to accept, not the absolute star rating)hmm...and after taking a look at hotwire, it seems they dont list a kitchenette as an amenity at all? I'm not seeing it on any of the hotels, and it's not even a selection in the side bar? Then for your dates there are no properties offered by HOTWIRE that are showing the Kitchenette amenity. There are 3 hotels in the area:Hampton Inn (Which i'm presuming is the 2.5* option)America's Best Value Inn (1* with horrible reviews ~3.5/10)Extended Stay America (1* with 7+/10 reviews)since the options to bid are 1*, 2* and 2.5* am i correct to assume that they'll make the Extended stay the 2 because of the great ratings? No, it's possible that both hotels are rated 1 star.Remember, the opaque providers are for users who are flexible in their plans and not choosing the specific hotel (or amenities) is in exchange for the deep discounts that are often seen. If you require a specific amenity (which can not be selected thru any of the current HOTWIRE offerings) then the opaque providers may not be the best option for this trip (you may want to try MAPS and HOTELS.com to see if there is anything there within your desired location and budget (use the slider function to only see hotels within your budget))Let us know what you decide and/or how it goes or if we can be of further help with this stay. Ben & Reem Posted January 5, 2012 Author Report Posted January 5, 2012 Thanks for the help! What do you think i would get selecting a 2* option in that area when the hotels are as listed above?
thereuare Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 There is no telling what property you will receive when bidding 2* in this zone, as per above, you can receive any hotel in the zone that PRICELINE rages 2* (or higher). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Ben & Reem Posted January 7, 2012 Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 We ended up bypassing the hassle all together and booked with candlewood in north olmsted directly.
