I'd like to stay in a 4* hotel in Soho 4/20-4/23/12. Can you suggest a bidding strategy and reasonable starting price? Seems that I should keep re-biding with zones that don't contain 4* hotels? Thanks.

I would like to stay in Soho at a 4*. I am hoping for less than $200/night. On priceline I tried:

These areas:

Long Island City

Lower East Side

Madison Square Garden - Convention Area

Morningside Heights - Harlem

Queensborough Bridge

SoHo - Tribeca

Upper East Side

(not in that order - I obviously tried soho first)

I think I started at $120 and I kept rebidding and adding zones and my last bid was $150 (which was rejected).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You actually have SEVEN re-bid zones (not SIX as posted above) when bidding 4* in NYC (use the method at Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and let us know if you need help identifying the one missing re-bid zone)

Even using the SIX re-bid zones you've listed above (always double check just before bidding) you can resume as follows:

Select 4* Soho...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Soho and re-bid zone6...

Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $200

I decided to stop after the first bidding set you recommended as I was hoping to get a great deal. All of my bids were rejected. I guess I will wait a week and try again. Thanks!

Rates are a little higher in late April as it starts to get in the Spring season, but you do have time to keep trying and hopefully inventory will come online at lower rates. Thank you for keeping us updated.
