"Best Price Guarantee

We're so confident that priceline has the lowest prices for the top five rental car brands (the biggest names in the business) that we make this promise: if you can find a lower price than the one you got on Priceline - we'll refund 100% of the difference!"

I know priceline did this for hotels, but now I see it for rent a cars too. Is this something new, or did I just miss this before?

Came out with the press release today...

Priceline Rental Cars Introduces Best-Price Guarantee

Rent a car from priceline.com and save up to 25% off other leading travel sites

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 2003-- Priceline.com® (Nasdaq: PCLN) announced today the introduction of a Best-Price Guarantee for customers using priceline.com's Name Your Own Price® rental car service. The guarantee promises to refund customers 100 percent of the difference if they don't find their best rental car deal at priceline.com. With its announcement, priceline.com becomes the only major Internet travel service to offer such a guarantee for rental cars.

"Priceline Rental Cars is so convinced of its position as the savings leader among the major online travel sites that we're backing it up with the Web's only rental cars price guarantee," said Paul Hennessy, Vice President, Priceline Rental Cars.

The rental car guarantee launch is being supported by a new national radio advertising campaign featuring longtime priceline.com celebrity spokesman William Shatner. The campaign also talks about how flexible travelers can use priceline.com to rent from the same top-brand companies and save up to 25 percent off other leading travel sites.

For complete details on the Best-Price Guarantee, visit www.priceline.com. Priceline.com also offers a Best-Price Guarantee for its worldwide hotel rooms service.

To coincide with the guarantee introduction, priceline.com also introduced today a newly designed rental cars Web site that is faster and easier to use. The new site enables customers to make their rental car purchase offer in a matter of minutes and receive a response from priceline.com in as little as 90 seconds.

Priceline.com's Name Your Own Price rental car service is easy to use. Customers pick the car type they want, their desired pickup/dropoff location including dates and times, and the per-day price they want to pay. Priceline.com then works with its five major rental car company partners to find one willing to rent the vehicle at that price. Vehicles can be rented days (or months) in advance, or with as little as four hours advance notice before pickup.

Priceline.com rental car customers can choose from 11 different vehicle types, including Economy (Chevrolet Metro or similar), Compact (Ford Escort, Focus or similar), Mid-Size (Mazda 626, Pontiac Grand Am or similar), Standard (Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ford Mustang or similar), Full-Size (Chevrolet Impala, Ford Taurus, Buick Regal or similar), Premium (Pontiac Bonneville, Ford Crown Victoria, Buick LeSabre or similar), Luxury (Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac Deville or similar), Convertible (Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Cavalier or similar), MiniVan (Chevrolet Venture, Ford Windstar or similar), SUV (Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Explorer or similar), and Compact Pickup (Ford Ranger or similar).
