The four-star hotel in the Sea World/I-Drive area of Orlando turned out to be the Rosen Centre Hotel. I booked 1/17-20 for $55 a night plus tax. Before I booked, Hotwire divulged the extra $30.95 for taxes, and warned that some hotels charge additional fees for "incidentals." I called the hotel this morning, and found out more about the incidentals. I was told that the resort fee was included in my hotwire price, but since we are driving to Orlando, we must pay $13 a night for "self parking." Those considering this deal should also know that just about all the amenities are extra. Amenities listed are Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, and Spa Services. The hotel website lists the cost of the fitness center as $10-30 depending on number of people and whether one wants to buy by the day or the stay. Wi-Fi is listed as $10-13 a day, depending on level of service. When I called today, I was told that there might be some free hotspots in the lobby, but it isn't guaranteed. I was also told that a mini fridge would run me an additional $9 a day. It is easy to see how our $55 a night deal could approach $100 a night if we didn't say "no" to all but the taxes and parking charges that we can't avoid. We are still looking forward to a more luxurious hotel than we are used to, but with the use of fewer amentities that we get free with lesser hotels.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Congratulations on your success!

It's fairly common that the higher rated hotels charge more for 'extras' than their lower rated counterparts... many times the higher rated properties cater to a business clientele who are on expense accounts and for the most part price-incensitive, so the hotel is able to charge almost whatever they want and earn additional revenue.

At check-in i'd see if you can get them to include the refrigerator at no cost just by asking/being nice, but if not, dpending what you need to store, if it's just drinks and such you could try picking up a cheap Styrofoam cooler for $3 at a nearby store and then filling it once/twice a day with ice from the hallway ice machine.
