Howdy...

Well, I'm looking to spend a few days in NYC at a nice four-star hotel with a budget of 150/night. From doing some research, on this site and all the major travel sites, it seems that it is possible if I had the right bidding strategy for priceline, though I have no experience with this approach. It appears that this site has truly wise individuals who I would love to request their help and support with my search. Thank you.

For 7/2-7/5 there is a 4* Customer Favorite in the MTE zone on Hotwire for $153/nite (your price may differ slightly). If you're new to Hotwire you can use the coupon code 'GIFTCARD06' for an additional $10/off per nite (up to $50). I believe this hotel is most likely the Drake and you can match it up with what appears in our HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST.

Would you like to go with the offer above or try to beat it using Priceline?

Thank you for your response thereuare,

I some how would love to stay at the intercontinental (Bercley, i think it's called). I don't know if I could get it for around my budgeted rate though through some planned strategy on pl or directly from hotwire. I read a few posts of people who had gotten it on pl for less than my budget. Otherwise, your suggestion more than satisfies my needs. Again, thanks.

You can try going thru all of your dates and see if you see anything that matches the star rating and amenties of the Inter-Continental Barclay in our HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST.

However, when i searched the other nite for you i didn't see it within your stated maximum price range.

Let us know how you make out.

Hi thereuare,

I just checked them out and the closest one that may be the Barclay is one that is a little different from the list on the link you provided (it has additionally 'tennis nearby') for 191. I was wondering if you would suggest I go ahead and try bidding on pl? and if so, what strategy do you suppose I should use to raise the possibility of scoring this hotel. Again, you do a marvelous job running this forum and I thank you.

For which dates did you find the hotel that was 'close' to the Barclay?

I don't think you're going to be able to target this specific hotel... if you go with Priceline you might get something for less, but the Drake at the above price is a good value.

For just a few dollars more you may also want to consider the Beekman Tower where you'll get a 1BR suite the size of a NYC apartment for $163/nite (no booking fee so equivalent to a $156 or so Priceline bid). The hotel is a bit east so it's not in the center of Times Square if that's what you're looking for, but the reviews are excellent.

If you still want to try Priceline (given that you can't target the Barclay)let us know and we'll suggest how to proceed... if you go that route let us know which zones you're willing to accept.
