I just got a call from hotwire. i booked a hotel at the W midtown atlanta on july 14th for a trip Jan 10 for 6 nights. of course, my cc was billed that day. I get a call tonight from HW telling me the W won't honor my reservation b/c they are sold out. There are no other hotel rooms available in the area for that rating or even close to the 4 * rating. I explain to HW (I'm a PRICELINE EXPRESS customer) that this is their problem, not mine. They think I should call the W and fight with them directly. I think this entire thing is BS. Has anyone else ever run into this with Hotwire? Why on earth would I pay in advance for a room unidentified when they don't even stand behind the reservation????? HELP!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Sorry to hear about this issue with the W. :(

Please post the details of the purchase (price per night, amenities that were showing with the listing, star rating and zone - this information should be available under your account in the trip information) and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

4*

Midtown

Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center

Tennis Nearby Spa Services

I paid $84/night.

What is so concerning is that they feel it is ok to leave me high and dry canceling my reservation that I prepaid back in July!!!

Thank you for letting us know about this new amenity set for this HOTWIRE property so that we can update the site's Hotwire Hotel List.

Did HOTWIRE offer a refund or any sort of compensation or primarily tell you to call the W? Generally in this situation (when a hotel is sold out and denies reservations) it is called "being walked" and the hotel should try to ensure comparable lodging nearby and offer some sort of compensation for the situation.

I explain to HW (I'm a PRICELINE EXPRESS customer)...

As a Hotwire Express customer i imagine you've used HOTWIRE somewhat frequently over the last few years, it would be appreciated if you began to share your wins with the board so that others can benefit from the information.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Thanks.

They offered to refund my money but I can't find another hotel at this late date. There are many conventions that week (which is why I booked and paid last july). The only right solution, as I see it, is for Hotwire to make the W honor my reservation. They oversold long after I booked and paid. Or, they need to come out of pocket to move me but in the same vicinity. They offered to rebook me at a 3* 3 miles away with no shuttle option. Not acceptable. If they don't fix, I'll NEVER use them again. I've booked hundreds with them!

Have you talked to the W at all or only HOTWIRE? In terms of HOTWIRE offering to move you to a different property a few miles away at a lower star rating, given that you are being walked to a lower rated hotel, I'd be surprised if you were not offered some sort of compensation (a free night, etc.) which is fairly normal in the situation of being "walked". Possibly the W can do something for you if contacted, but HOTWIRE should be offering some sort of compensation for the situation.

Sharing any prior wins would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
