Want a safe and nice hotel was going to bid on hotel, but really do not know how to do this. Maybe 70-80 dollars a night. Would love one with full breakfast, airport shuttle. Plans are to go to zoo, safari. sea world. Would like to go whale watching. What else sounds good. where do i start...Please help...Grandma

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Given that you have a few things planned on this trip, i suspect that you will need to rent a car (keep in mind that many hotels, especially downtown, will likely charge for parking).

With PRICELINE you can't stipulate a hotel that has a shuttle (may not be necessary if you decide to rent a car) or free breakfast... if you want either/both of these then HOTWIRE would be a better option since you can choose a hotel which indicates they offer these amenities. The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE. (however, with HOTWIRE you can also take an educated guess as to the property being offered, and therefore also determine (assuming your guess is correct) of how much parking charges, if any, might be)

Based upon the above let us know your thoughts as to which service you think would be better given your needs for this trip and we'll take it from there.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

What else sounds good. where do i start. Was told that Hotwire would be able to pick more of my options. I quess sounds like need a car ANd you pay to park in the hotel?? If you start by using the search box on the top left side of this board and input your information, does anything offered by HOTWIRE in the zone(s) you're willing to accept, meet your budget and desired star rating? (NOTE: you'll need to click the 'See all' link at the end of each list of amenities to see the complete amenities offered by a given hotel offered)

Ok, going to san diego Jan 18-23. One adult one child. Going to Legoland, zoo, safari, whale watching, museam, and possible sea world not sure. Do not know area need to stay in, need safe one. I really have aproblem with paying 35 dollars to park my car at a hotel that I am paying for...So if I could get one that has airport pickup and has car rental when I need it. then that would work. ANy and all suggestions would be great. Ready to bid on room, unless just better off renting one straight out. AAA member. thanks in advance. Read the faq but really could not find the form where we get assistance with bidding.

Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread.

There is no way to guarantee airport shuttle with PRICELINE; with HOTWIRE, you can look for a listing with airport shuttle listed as one of the amenities. Using HOTWIRE's area map for San Diego, which one of the highlighted zones would be most convenient for your stay?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

when I use the above HOTWIRE link for these days and san diego, Put in for all areas, all stars, all recommendations none list free parking, When I put in airport shuttle, get only 3 star hotels. If I put in breakfast the most I get is 3 star. Am i doing something wrong? la Jolla area hotel looks like a nice area. i need a map that tells me where attractions are in regards to the hotel. Am I just stuck paying and extra 35 dollars a day for parking?? What other options out there? So if I have to rent a car, that is an extra 35 dollars a day and then 35 dollars for parking each day...that is a lot for parking...we just do not charge for parking at hotels we are staying at so that is my issue...Also if I am going to have to pay 35 extra for parking than maybe I should go with price line if I am stuck with this. Sure does not seem tourist friendly. Is there a listing of hotels in each area?? thanks so much for the help, wish I had more money. so if that is the case what as close to the water as i can get. Coronado, del mar rancho, and downtown san diego looks good.
