ctopher2391 Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I'm trying to get a 5* in either Mayfair-Soho, The City and London Bridge, or Westminster. Started bidding at $150 and increased in $5 increments up to $185 - all rejected. Should I want until closer to my travel dates, or do I have unreasonable hopes?
thereuare Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 It's still quite early, but this is typically an expensive time of year in London, what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? How high are you willing to bid before considering a 4* property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ctopher2391 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 HOTWIRE has a 5* in Mayfair-Soho for $299, and Expedia is around the same or higher. If I have to go much over $200 I'll look at 4*.
thereuare Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 With 6 months to go between now and your stay a LOT can happen, especially given the current state of economic conditions. However, at this point in time i think it will likely take more than $200/nite for a 5*, but it may also be too early to compromise what you really want for this trip. Are you able to find any 4* hotels within your budget which you can book as a cancelable back-up while you continue to wait it out and bid for a 5* hotel? (try MAPS and HOTELS.com, select 4* from the filter, then sort by price... of course you'll need to make sure that whatever you book is fully refundable)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I just tried that MAPS and HOTELS.com. Pretty amazing. Have you considered adding it to the "Tools" menu?Romelle
thereuare Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I just tried that MAPS and HOTELS.com. Pretty amazing.Thanks... it's one of those things i just lose sight of and forget to get around to it... i'll add it right now, but am hoping to come up with a better way to highlight some of the tools we've created as i'm not sure how many people know to look under the tools menu and they miss out on the gold that sits underneath. ;) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ctopher2391 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 I agree that it's going to take over $200. I'll keep plugging away and see if I get something. If all else fails, I'll book something with cash & points through Starwood.
