Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip) Venetian

You can probably save about $30-$50 (total) off of the above $200/nite rate... is that a price you're willing to pay for this property?

It's still a lot of money for a hotel room in Vegas during the summer. Don't get me wrong, it's a great hotel and one of the nicest, but there may be better values if you don't really require a 5* property for your trip.

Thanks Thereuare. As I said there will be the 3 of us so I'd like to have a very decent room. The way I see it is how often do we take my MIL to Vegas. I got 2 of the RT tickets free from some miles so I'm not out a bunch now but still I dont mind paying a little more since she's with us. Now if it were just the 2 of us I'd consider trying to save as much as possible.

The thing is I've heard of so many places to stay and not to stay. For example, Dont stay @ Luxor unless its in the tower,Stay out of NY/NY because it sucks, Mandalay Bay is at the end of the strip,Circus/Circus aint happening anymore. There is a big TV special tomorrow night on The Travel Channel so I'll see kinda what stands out to my wife/MIL and I'll get back here with a few options. Thanks for all your help. LETS GO IRISH!!!!!LETS GO IRISH!!!! Charlie Weis is the man. Our suffering is over.

Let us know after the show tomorrow... let us know if 5* is the route you want to go and we'll figure out the best way to peice it together for you so as to save the most money.

Do note that if you want a room with 2 beds at the Venetian there will be an extra charge (likely $15/nite)... but if you don't let them know about the 3rd person and one person can sleep on the pull-out couch it shouldn't be a problem. Just making sure you're aware ahead of time.

Ok after watching all about Vegas last night on The Travel Chanel,I'm ready to sleep anywhere. I can buy a 5* on Hotwire right now for $194 per night. Thats a Thurs,Fri and Sat. Now I dont know exactly where I'll be staying, but I would think it would be ok if it's on the North or South Strip right? I know (wait) is what broke down the wagon so is it time to pull the trigger on this deal? Thanks for all the help.

If you're seeing a 5* on the North Strip then that is (in all likelihood) the Venetian... double check the amenities shown with those in our HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST.

I do know a way you can save about $20 on this reservation but don't know if you want to go thru the trouble to do so.

If you're new to Hotwire use coupon code 'GIFTCARD06' at check-out for $10 off per nite (up to $50).

Let us know if you want the idea for the extra $20 or if you just want to move forward with the Hotwire offer.

After looking at the dates and prices ,I've decided to wait a little while. Seems like you can book a 5 * this weekend for $159 versus $195 for my dates in August. I went to Savingsbarn and used the link to PRICELINE and bidded $150 + insurance and was turned down.

Tell me if I'm wrong but aint it still hot in Vegas in mid-August? is this their slowest time of the year? I know it sounds crazy to try and save a few $$ on a 5 * when I'm probably getting a good deal at $195 +tax.. I figure worst case is I'll pick up a 4.5 Star if the price jumps too much. Am I wrong here?

Just because it's hot doesn't mean it's empty... afterall, you're going, right? :)

I had even commented above:

  • 3 weeks later...

I am such a freaking idiot. The 5* is through the roof now for Aug 11th -14th with no light at the end of the tunnel. I really wanted to stay at a 4.5 or a 5 for a decent rate, but it looks like me waitng has cost me much more money. I played with the dates just to see the rates and it's all going sky high. Do you think priceline would accept $199 for a 5* for the dates in question?

By the way,I'm thinking about renting a car and driving to The Grand Canyon. Is this a pretty good drive on a very early Friday morning? Thanks for all you help.

I know in your first post you mentioned that you don't gamble... but i assumed that meant in the casinos, would you gamble on a hotel price? :)

Here are my thoughts:

You can book the Venetian HERE for $108/nite for 8/12.

Now for 8/12-8/14....

Hotwire has what is highly believed to be the Venetian for $296/nite ($592 for two nites).

For these same dates the Venetian can be booked via their own website for $259/nite ($518 for two nites)

You could therefore purchase the above two nites on Hotwire for $592 and then apply for their "double the difference" guarantee which should net out as follows:

Cost of Hotwire: $592

Venetian Direct: $518

Difference: $74

Double the Difference: $148

Hotwire less DD Refund: $444 ($592 - $144)

Net Hotwire Cost per nite: $222 (plus fees and taxes)

So the above would cost you less than the $199 you are considering bidding on Priceline.

What could go wrong?

-hotwire hotel could end up not being the Venetian

-hotwire could deny your double the difference claim for whatever reason (although they seem to have been very good in this regard)

I would only 'declare' two people in the room so as to make the Hotwire and Venetian rate an apples-to-apples comparison... if you 'declare' 3 adults on each search the price of the venetian direct goes up but the Hotwire rate does not... making the above no longer valid

Is the above something you would try?

I would be wary of doing this. It may very well be that the reason 3 adults at the Venetian costs more than 2 adults is the bedding. It appears that the Venetian is selling rooms with a king bed only at a lower rate than one with two beds. It shows up when trying to book through the Venetian.

Unless you're fully prepared to sleep with your mother-in-law, I'd suggest you be very careful with respect to accepting Hotwire's rate while only specifying two people.

Alright man thanks for all the help and I'm about to pull the trigger here goes. I've decided to stay 11th Thursday and 12th Friday in a 5*...$172 a night on Hotwire. Priceline told me I could have it for $6 less, but easyclicktravel, the link you provided was $242+tax. I'm thinking we'll stay in a 3.5 or a 4* on the Sat night. I'll get a place on the North Strip I guess. If I use priceline and try the GIFTCARD06,I'll save a little more I think, but I've use Hotwire before so I might not be able to use that. With all this being said, Does all these look like The Venetian?

Link to comment

Yes, EasyClickTravel is not competitive for the Venetian during the typical weekend.

The 'giftcard06' discount is for Hotwire, not priceline.

What are the full list of amenities for the 5* that you are seeing on Hotwire (i assume that is what you are asking if it looks like the Venetian)?

Also, be aware that a Saturday nite check-in may be a little difficult as well as some hotels don't allow Saturday check-in.

Just booked The Venetian through Priceline via savingsbarn for $149 per night for Thursday and Friday night. $348.78 total including the insurance. Now I just need a place for Saturday night. I think I'll do Hotwire for a 4* although I would like to stay at Paris. Does anyone know what the 4.5 star might be?

By the way, I'm thinking about renting a car and driving to The Grand Canyon on that Friday. Does this sound very doable or is it too much trouble? I guess there are tours.

Congratulations on your success... looks like it turned pretty good.

Was $149 your first bid or did you have previous bids rejected (if so, what was the highest rejected bid?)

I'll leave it to somebody else to mention the drive to the Grand Canyon (as i don't enjoy driving for long stretches).

If you'd like help with the last nite of your stay please start a NEW THREAD... and thanks for using the SavingsBarn to place your bids! :)
