spritzola Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 HelloI've read my messages, read some helpful threads, but still lost.I'd like to find a 4* hotel for my anniversary on Tuesday (27th!) in Austin for the night. Can anybody help and suggest a bidding strategy or recommend a hotel please? Thanks! :)
Romelle Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 December 27?? Or a different month??If December, you don't have a lot of time.Fortunately, Austin has a lot of free rebids at the 4* level. An explanation of this is in the FAQs, but after you think you've got it do post back the zones you think are OK so somebody can double check?? Again, if December, you will probably need this technique to get in more bids in very few days.Budget?? Not nosy, that # will help somebody devise a bidding plan for you that doesn't exceed it.Check HOTWIRE (upper left hand corner for a link) to see what they have. You might find something you like. Alternatively, it will give you a better idea of the max you might have to bid on PRICELINE.Try the Calendar of Wins (pull-down under Tools above). If other bidders have reported for your date, you can see what they had to pay.For a broader cut of Austin posts, you can use "I WANT TO SEE...." (upper right corner). Try both Priceline Hotel Wins and Hotwire Hotel Wins. Finally, it is always a good idea to research out your best conventional rate via hotel web sites and the broader search engines. There are a lot of links on the Support Page (heading above).I didn't mean to overwhelm you, but if you only have 3 days, you need to cast a wide net quickly.RomellePS - I'm a member, not a moderator, but answering the questions at the beginning of this tirade will held them do a strategy for you. The rest is just self-help, but you may also find it useful.
AaronJB Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 It would depend on desired budget, but HOTWIRE is worth considering for an anniversary, as while there's still no guarantees and rates are a bit more expensive than PRICELINE, the information showing can often result in being able to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing - especially if you'd like to try for a particular type of hotel.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
