jjgarv Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Looking for any advice on how to bid for Caribe Hilton for two rooms for 4/13/12 and 4/14/12.Thanks for any help!
thereuare Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.Let us know any thoughts/questions you have regarding the above and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. jjgarv Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 How long should one wait after unsuccesful bids for a hotel stay to "start over"?Example- after several unsuccesful, and excalating bids, we still have not had a bid accepted for a hotel in a city. How long would we need to wait to start bidding again as somewhat of a "re-start".....or does Priceline keep track of our bids and know that we have already bid up to a certain price?
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Good afternoon. :)First, is this for the same San Juan trip as discussed in this prior Priceline San Juan thread?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jjgarv Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 Yes it is. I have been unsuccessful bidding consistently up to $140 for a resort. With nothing accepted, I was swondering if I should wait a couple of weeks and start over, or accept that I need to go higher. I have also included 4* in re-bids.
thereuare Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel for $115/nite with:Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, SpaThis is a match for the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino so that would be my best guess for this one... would this HOTWIRE property work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jjgarv Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 We are hoping to stay at a resort with a beach. I did see this property on Hotwire and throught research figured it was the Sheraton. Should I continue to bid on Resorts, or wait a while and start over?
thereuare Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Is something like the Caribe Hilton acceptable, which is rated as a Resort class hotel by PRICELINE, but is really a man-made beach in a lagoon area (same for the Conrad Condado Plaza). It this for a pre-cruise stay? If so, what time do you arrive in San Juan? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jjgarv Posted January 12, 2012 Author Report Posted January 12, 2012 This is a precruise stay. We will get in very late Friday night and cruise departs Sunday. So we will need two rooms for two nights.Caribe would be perfect! It would be our first choice as we stayed there last time- Condado would be great as well..... thoughts?
thereuare Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I previous thought that this was a one nite stay...Based upon current rates i'm not surprised that you're current bids were turned down as prices are high for these dates. However, i also think it's too early to chase this one too much. If you'd prefer to get this done sooner rather than later i would likely increase my bidding as high as $160 and use that as a cap at the moment... or if you're not concerned about getting this done you can stick with your current $140/nite. However, i would book a refundable back-up in the meantime to protect yourself from prices rising even further. If you haven't seen it yet, i'd also suggest checking out one of our newest sites, Pre Cruise Hotels, which makes it very easy to see how far your hotel is from the cruise pier (or the beach) as well as how much more/less it would cost to stay closer/further away, as well as how much more/less if you were to go up/down in star rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know hat you decide and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. thereuare Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Congratulations on your success! An excellent deal for these busy dates! Glad to see it only took $5 more than your previously rejected bids and that you're pleased with the results. Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
