Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* San Juan Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde

I want to try for one of the 4 star hotel/resorts along the Isla Verde beach Jan 19-22 (3 nights non-smoking) and also one night Jan 29 which would be post-cruise. I absolutely do not want Condado Beach or Old San Juan or any of the business hotels around the Convention Centre or the Lagoon. I'm in Canada and Hotwire is showing me Canadian dollar prices and I'm all set to try the 4* Resort, Beach, Casino for the single night Jan 29 at $249 listed for $155 CAD because it lists beach.... that's what dear wife wants. BUT... when I look for the 4 star for the three nights Jan 19 - 22 there is no mention of Beach but otherwise you'd think it was the same place because it shows the same $249 retail price but available for $154/night CAD

Can someone suggest a sure way of getting either Marriott Courtyard Isla Verde, The InterContinental, The El San Juan or Embassy Suites Isla Verde (which is just a block from the beach)?

To begin, please use the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's home page and change your currency to US Dollars, and continue to search and post hotel rates in US Dollars. Once you're ready to purchase use the drop down menu to change to Canadian dollars or whatever currency it is you'd like to use for your purchase.

Note that unless the hotel you're being offered shows a Smoke Free amenity, there is no way to guarantee a non-smoking room. You can call the hotel after your purchase and request a non-smoking room, but the hotel may not be able, or willing, to accommodate your request... most will leave it 'run of house' and your room will be assigned based upon what is available at check-in. If this is a dealbreaker, or even if it's not, you may also want to check out our newly launched companion site Pre Cruise Hotels.com which is the easiest way to get a 'lay of the land and see where hotels are in relation to the cruise pier, sort hotels by star rating, price, etc, and determine how much less/more it would be if you lowered/raised your star rating and/or stayed closer/further from the pier.

Thank you for the help. I'm a total newbie who couldn't even see the currency tab at the top of Hotwire. Now I just hope I don't drive you all carzy for the next few days as I play amateur detective looking at the 3 1/2* marked down to $110 and a 4 * marked to $148 - both still have no beach and in the search I'm using ZIP Code 00979 which I know is where I want to be. Both the Hotwire deals are 3 - 10 miles away so I'm pretty sure they are too close to Old San Juan while I still want the Isla Verde beach area.

My second problem is the Calendar of Wins for Puerto Rico - Hotwire shows one win in the timeframe I'll be booking but even with pop-up supression turned off, nothing comes up - no links to follow. Is the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins even working?

The distance shown is from the center of the zone to the point you're searching, not the distance of the hotel specific hotel you're purchasing.

Is this property 3.5* rated by HOTWIRE?

If so, this matches previous reports for the Courtyard Isla Verde so that would be my best guess for this one.

I've just used your HOTWIRE link and got it for $101 - that's three nights and I know the Babe will be very happy because that hotel has a nice salsa dance floor. It's a tad close to the airport runway but the beach is nicer at the east end of Isla Verde. The A5 bus will get us to Old San Juan for $1.75.... and I am so damn glad I didn't go and pay $176 a night for this same hotel/resort on Hotels.com
