nfahey
Hi Everyone!I am usually pretty good at reading the boards and bidding myself, but Hawaii seems to be "A bird of a different color" as far as priceline is concerned. I know I need a room 2/15-2/18/06. Should I start bidding now or wait until the time comes closer? If I should start now, can someone help me with a bidding strategy? From the hotel websites these are the rates I found today.Wailea Marriott $269/nightRenaissance $269/nightMaui Prince $335/nightI'd prefer the Wailea area b/c we are renting a timeshare in the Ka'anapali area 2/18-2/25.Thanks in advance for any and all advice. :) Nancy Link to comment
thereuare
Given this is a relatively expenisve area, do you have a maximum bid in mind? I have an idea of what it might cost, but wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that included bids higher than you want to pay. nfahey
Hi thereuare,Thanks for the reply! I am willing to bid up to $200/nite but of course would like to land lower than that. :) Any help is appreciated.Nancy Link to comment
thereuare
You have two re-bid zones available when bidding Resort in this area. If you're not familiar with your re-bid zones please read PRICELINE RE-BIDDING and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. This is how i would bid:Select Resort....Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Resort and re-bid zone2...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. nfahey
Thanks for the strategy. I followed your instructions but unfortunately no luck. Would you recommend me trying the same bidding strategy in a few weeks and just repeat it until the time comes closer or do you have another idea? Thanks again very much for your time and assistance! :) Nancy Link to comment
nfahey
Instead of using priceline (b/c it is high season and I was afraid for availability) I choose a vacation rental through owner at the Westin Ka'anpali Ocean Resort Villas. Link to comment
