robinbtravel Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Darn! I was "upgraded". Was hoping for the Grand Hyatt for these dates and tried in the Airport West zone for a 4* all the way to $55. I stopped because I didn't want the Westin and have to pay for parking. I changed to the Westshore zone and bid $45 for a 3* hoping for the Hyatt Place and was "upgraded" to the Doubletree. *sigh* I knew it was a possibility but I ended up overpaying for this hotel since it usually comes in at $40.Doubletree Hotel Tampa Westshore Airport4500 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607 | 813-879-4800Check-In: Sat, Dec 24, 2011 / After 03:00 PMCheck-Out: Wed, Dec 28, 2011 / 12:00 PMRooms: 1 roomOffer Price:avg. per room, per night $45.00Rooms: 1Nights: 4Room Subtotal: $180.00Taxes & Fees: $31.92Total Charged to Card: $211.92

jhansen Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I noticed that you seem to have a lot of bids in the Tampa area. I am looking to make a bid on hotels in the Tampa Brandon area in March and the price is getting pretty high. I am assuming it is due to spring break, but I am wondering if you have any suggestions. We were trying for a 2 1/2 star, but would be willing to go to a 2 star as well. We are hoping to pay somewhere in the area of 40 to 50 dollars... do you think that is even possible? Thanks for any suggestions!
bmw745ion19s Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 I too frequent Tampa because Im from there and only live 2hour away now. Spring break does have an affect on Tampa hotels but, Brandon is east of tampa and not really a vacation zone. Ive stayed in the westshore area (nice area near everything in south tampa) for $50 and seen plenty of others do the same at 3.5* and 4* hotels. If you post your dates I wouldnt mind giving you a recommendation. Also do you mind driving back and forth to Brandon during that time? not sure how much you need to be in that area or what.
