bidding_newb Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 I'm looking to stay one night in central NYC (MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB) on Saturday the 17th. I'm trying to keep the bids under $150. Obviously if this is possible with a 4*, great if not, I think I would prefer to bid on 3.5* and stay central as opposed to moving outside of central Manhattan.Suggested strategies are highly welcomed! Thanks in advanceT.
thereuare Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 At the 4* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145If the above is rejected HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the ESB zone which you can pick-up for $145/nite (your price may differ slightly) with: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. Best guess for this would be the St Giles The Court. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. bidding_newb Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 I had no success at $145 and I don't see anything on hotwire for under $170...If my Girlfriend were to try and bid on a 3.5, do you have a recommended starting bid? Thanks.
bidding_newb Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 I've posted a few questions in the priceline section of NYC and both times, there was a hotwire reference to a hotel which was approx $150 at 4*. I haven't seen anything under $180 (and that's a 3 star) so I'm just curious if I'm missing something or if there are quick turnaround times on the site. I'm trying to grab a hotel at 3.5*+ for tomorrow night, Sat the 17th and failed maxing out bidding on priceline at $150 for 3.5* (almost all areas aside from financial and MSG).Just curious if anybody sees anything on hotwire that I'm missing? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Unfortunately, I'm not seeing it when searching for 12/17. The price may have been changed or the discounted inventory for that particular hotel that was showing may be gone. At the 4* level in the zones mentioned above, I think you're likely looking at more towards the $175-200 range and possibly a bit higher. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 The $145 property is no longer offered... i believe it may have been listed as only 2 rooms or 4 rooms left (and i was a bit surprised when i saw it offered)To try at the 3.5* level, using your SIX re-bid zones:Select 3.5* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB (you may also want to include MSG if you think this zone will also work for your needs)...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
