Priceline Hotel: Booking in Advance

I'm looking at visiting NYC February 21-25, 2012. Would I do better waiting a bit more or trying to book now with Priceline and Hotwire? We're looking at getting at least a 4* hotel for our stay.

I will be making it to NYC close to midnight on Saturday, February 18 and then leaving very early (maybe 4am-5am?) on Monday, February 20 to catch a 6am flight out of LaGuardia Airport. Not very picky on location or ratings but I'm looking to spend less than $150 total for the two nights I'd be staying there, do you think this is possible? If so, which hotels do you think would be in my range?

Please follow-up your previous Hotwire Las Vegas thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip (even if you didn't use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and decided to book direct, canceled the trip, etc).

As well, do these nites above replace your previous Priceline NYC dates/trip?

Under $100 per nite is not that common in NYC except during the slowest of nites. Fortunately your dates are during low season, but $75/nite will make this even more difficult. As well, if you're looking at 'all-in' including taxes and fees, that brings your bid amount down to about $60, which is almost unheard of within Manhattan.

If you want to give it a try, let us know your minimum star rating, maximum bid amount (is $75 your maximum bid amount or all-in including taxes and fees), and the zone(s) you're willing to accept... we'll advise accordingly.

It will be difficult for sure! The $75 /nite is all-in, but I can increase that if needed. I'm looking at Chelsea and Madison Square Garden because our bus will be dropping us off at 7th Ave & 28th St. Willing to go 2-star for now only because no 1-star properties are listed yet.

So to confirm... you're looking for a 2* or higher hotel and only want to bid the Chelsea and (MSG-Convention Center) zones with a maximum bid of $60?

Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly, although i'll also add that i would include other centrally located zones throughout the city, especially if budget is an issue... why plan a 4 nite stay based upon where the bus will drop you off and pick you up? Better to choose a location based upon the things you want to do during your stay, and if it takes you an extra 5-10 minutes to get to your hotel upon arrival it's not really a big deal.

Sure thing! Also, it will only be a 2 night stay (Feb 18-20), followed by a 6am flight out of LaGuardia on Monday morning. Increasing max bid to $75.
