maira Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Hey guy I'm new on this so need help with bidding.I have a trip booked from Jan 5 - 9th with 6 girls and we're wanting a hotel on oceans drive. I know price line has the option of choosing to bid in a zone specific to oceans drive but we're not sure where we should start our bid at as we do not want to rebid in other zones. Since there is six of us we'll need two rooms. Also if our bid does get rejected can we rebid without adding new zones just increasing the amount? We were wanting to get the Betsy hotel but not sure what the bidding star level and acceptable prices would be! HELP!
thereuare Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.... please click each of these previous links before replying.Thanks. maira Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 Yes that's fine, price line and two rooms is what we're looking to go for. What do you think is a realistic bidding point for 2 4* hotel rooms on oceans drive from Jan 5 - 9th
thereuare Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Rates are somewhat high for these dates and i'm seeing 4* hotels starting at ~$300/nite... what is your maximum bid per room for this trip?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. maira Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 We didn't want to pay more than 250/night each room, the lower the better but we want to be realistic. I've seen people post that they've won 4*'s for around 200 during christmas to new years time frame so I figured it would be cheaper post new years. Also it must be on oceans drive so I need to make sure I can rebid without adding zones. Thank you!
thereuare Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Also it must be on oceans drive...If you enter "Miami" into the search box on the top right corner of the board, are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the South Beach-Ocean Drive zone?...so I need to make sure I can rebid without adding zones.'Re-bidding' as the terms is used on the board does involve adding zones, but they're zones which you couldn't receive a hotel in because they only contain hotels lower than the minimum star rating you set as your threshold. Are you familiar, and comfortable with, re-bidding? If not, have you see this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
