edge1282 Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Hi - I'm new to this bidding and would like to stay in a 4* hotel in South Beach - Central from April 5 - 9, 2012. Ideally the maximum bid would be $165.I've chosen SB-Central as I have a baby and would prefer to be away from the noise of Collins/Ocean Dr.Mondrian looks like a winner, or Anglers Boutique. What strategy would you suggest please? Many thanks.
thereuare Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Mondrian looks like a winner, or Anglers Boutique. You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. While the two properties you mention above may be the only two 4* hotels reported to the board in this zone, there could be others or a previously reported hotel may have been upgraded since last reported (see the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List). With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. Are you willing to accept any 4* hotel in the zone OR are you trying to target one of the two properties above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. edge1282 Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 Thanks for your reply.I would ideally like to target one of those two, however I would be willing to accept other 4* hotels in south beach - central.
thereuare Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 When bidding 4* in this region you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* South Beach Central...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* South Beach Central and re-bid zone6...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $165Any questions (especially confirming your re-bid zones) feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. edge1282 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 Hi - no luck. I increased the last bid to $180, but still nothing. Any more suggestions? Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. edge1282 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 About $275 for the Mondrian, $335 for Anglers.
thereuare Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 You're still about $100 away from conventional rates at the above two properties, and given the time of year, hotels in the area may not be willing to discount too deeply at this point in time.Is $180 your maximum bid for this stay at this time? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. edge1282 Posted December 16, 2011 Author Report Posted December 16, 2011 I could go to an absolute maximum of $250, but would prefer to stay below the $200 mark if possible.
thereuare Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 Here is an updated strategy which goes to $210, but you can stop at whatever bid amount you're most comfortable.Select 4* South Beach Central...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* South Beach Central and re-bid zone6...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $210If this too is rejected we can update further or you can give it a week or so and try again, hoping some discounted inventory has been added to the system. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any questions along the way or how we can be of further help.
