tdtlittle Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 After booking our flight to Amsterdam I noticed that we were going to be there during Easter and tulip season. (bad timing on my part) We need lodging from April 4 thru the 9th. The median price for a 4* hotel in the central area is $211. I was thinking about starting out at $80 or $90 and if rejected continue to increase the bid $5 each day until it gets accepted. Is this a good plan? Thanks, Tom

tdtlittle Posted November 22, 2011 Author Report Posted November 22, 2011 The zone we are aiming to stay in is the Central/ Museum district. Thanks for the info on the re-bidding. The dates listed earlier are firm...April 4-9, 2012. Thank you so much for all of your help.Tom
thereuare Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Based upon current rates, my guess is that sub-$100 is probably going to be a bit too optimistic for these dates. However, since you have time in your side, you can try, using your ONE re-bid zone:Select 4* City Centre-Museum Quarter...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90You can then continue to re-try every 24 hours by adding $5 to each previous bid from the day before (so your bidding pairs would be: $95/$100, 24 hours later $105/$110, $115/$120, etc, etc.). I would continue with this strategy until you hit about $160-$170 or so (which should take you 7-10 days). At that point, if still unsuccessful, we'll regroup and re-evaluate.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and keep us updated on your progress. tdtlittle Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 Started bidding 2 weeks ago for a 4* in the city center/museum area @ $85. I then bid every couple of days increasing my bid by $5 until I won my bid at $111 (last night @ 11 pm) for a 5* at the Nh Barbizon Palace. I'm surprised that I got a 5* because I was bidding for a 4*. I also used the link on this web site for PRICELINE. Thank You for all your help.Tom
