Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Union Square West - Nob Hill) Parc 55 Wyndham San Francisco - Union Square

I initially tried for 4* Union Square East hoping to get the Westin for 12/29/11 to 1/2/12. My real preference was to stay in the USE area and went as high as $160 before running out of free zones.

Then I decided to do Union Square West for kicks. In a moment of not even thinking, I went ahead and started my bid at $125, not remembering that some of the USW 4* hotels appear to have been going for a lower rate (although I couldn't say that is true for the dates I wanted, which includes NYE). My initial $125 bid was immediately accepted. I'm annoyed at myself for not starting off with $100 considering it appears a fellow bidder got the same hotel for $89/night for the couple of nights before my dates of interest. I feel I may have overpaid.

In any case, the last time I was in SF, I stayed at Parc 55. It was pretty nice and the location was good. I think the weekend I was there last, I pricelined the hotel at $140/night, but that was during the summer.

EDIT: Just checked a few sites. Looks like the average daily rate for my dates at Parc 55 is now $199/night + tax for a room with a view (gone up from yesterday it seems), so I saved about $330, although I'm sure I'll be on a lower floor with no view, which is fine and expected.

Of course, I used the PRICELINE link to support this site. Have been using Better Bidding ever since a trip to Europe I took back in 2006! This site rocks with great information.
