Hi!

I have used priceline name your own bid in the past with hotels. This time around I wanted to try to use it for my flight. Any recommendations for travel between 4/4-4/14? Leaving from the NYC area (any airport) and flying into Honolulu.

Thanks!!

Airfare deals are much tougher to come by than hotel deals, and while it sometimes works out quite well, i wouldn't expect the same deep discounts on airfare as you typically find with hotels. As well, this is during Easter, a time which many kids are off from school and families therefore decide to take vacation, which equates to increased demand.

What is the best rate you're able to find for this route? How much of a discount would need to make the opaque suppliers worthwhile?

See this Priceline Airfare RE-Bidding thread, in particular the 2nd post.

You can get an almost unlimited number of re-bids, so you can star low ($500 or so??) and then gradually increase each re-bid. Your earlier bids you may want to increase by $25 or so and your later bids by $10 or so.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
