Flexible in January to Orlando (car)

I'm headed to Florida to see Mom in January. I'll be getting a flight likely with coupons I got from mycokerewards to use on Southwest so doubtful on using PL or HW for air bidding. However the car is another issue completely. First off I'm willing to shuttle away from airport if I can save taxes/fees on the car. I'll take the cheapest but getting a nicer car for the same or better price is appealing. I'm going for 7-10 days anytime after Jan 3. I've done my research and am unbelievably pleased at the no coupon search rates I'm seeing for one week compact rentals. I'm finding approx 109 for the week from mco -compact. When I read backward through the forums here, though, I see compacts for 10/day from mco which is more..? Of course time of year matters. Is it really possible for me to try and get lower than the 109/week all in rates cause if so then I'm excited to give that a shot. What should I do now? I know the air ticket must come first. I guess my two questions are this: What is the cheapest you've seen compacts go for in January cause the no coupon rate I tried already is (to me) pleasing already? And is it cheaper (generally) to chose off airport sites to lower fees? Thanks for your comprehensive site, I'm from Slickdeals and was led here via a post over there.
